Lightning Vine

Jamie looked at the two guys and then thought of a plan.

"Where are you two guys going?"

"We are here to look for Monster Vine. Why are you here?"

Yes, why was she here? Jamie had to think and she remembered the memory of her present self. To say, it was a rebirth, it wasn't wrong. But she didn't remember her past life till now, it essentially like her memories were locked and now she unlocked.

"Well, my parents disappeared so the family guild threw me here to die."

The guy looked at her with sympathy.

"I understand. We all have the same life story. I was kicked out because I had no possibility of awakening. Brother Sawyer, his father kicked him to get the opportunity for his other son."

Jamie realized that there was a city with everything. And only the privileged lived there. Like people who have the possibility of awakening. This was the possibility of awakening Superpowers.

Jamie touched her nose with guilt. It was because of her space blow up that people lost their super powers. She didn't understand how that happened though.

"Then how much is your possibility of awakening?"

"Mine is 49 and Brother Sawyer has 79."

Anything above 50 was high and well, Sawyer's dad was a real idiot.

"How about you?"

Jamie didn't know.

"I don't know. After my parents were gone, they locked me and I haven't got the chance to know."

Jamie gave them a sad look.

"Aww, that's so sad. Don't worry. Join us. We will take care of you."

"Oh my god. You are so good. You are my brother from now on. Oh yes, brother, I don't know your name?"

Jamie had never met such innocent person before. In the apocalypse, people killed before asking questions. This innocent bird would be eaten alive and she was thinking how he survived with such good heart till now. For example, he was taking in her, who he didn't know, at all. She only had a sob story.

"I'm Leo and this is Sawyer."

"I'm Jamie."

Jamie shook his hand. Sawyer paid no attention to them and she was fine with it. She just needed some information about the current world and she was feeling okay with following them.

"Yes, we watched you being unconscious for a while. You woke up suddenly," He acted and Jamie laughed.

"Thank you for helping me."

They were talking and then there were sounds. A low screech and Jamie found that Sawyer was alert. Leo also noticed this.

A creeper tendril appeared and Sawyer unsheathed his sword. Wow. Was swordplay famous now?

He cut the tendril before him and multiple tendrils attacked him. Before Jamie could blink, Sawyer was tied up. Like a mummy.

"Oh no, what to do?"

Leo was flustered. He threw knives but that didn't affect. The tendrils broke and others occupied their place. Sawyer kept struggling.

Jamie wanted to take action. She didn't know what was considered normal in the world now. She had space powers before. She could teleport too. Just in a ten feet radius.

That was not helpful.

"If only I had some shocking tool," Leo cried.

"Yeah, how nice it would be if you had lightning powers," Jamie answered.

Jamie searched her space and found a battery. She threw the battery to Leo. He looked dumbfounded.

"Shock it with this."

Leo touched the battery and tried to check. That wouldn't work, would it?

Finally, he threw the battery to the vine. And then it happened.

A lightning bolt.

The lightning hit the vine and the vine sizzled and burned. Whoa. Sawyer was also shocked with this. When everything was calm and the smoke disappeared, a black charred Sawyer appeared before them.

And he spoke for the first time.

"What just happened?"

No one knew what happened.

Leo stood like he was attacked by lightning.

He turned to Sawyer and pointed at him.

"I did that?"

"Yes, you did that."

Sawyer echoed him.

"How?"

He thought and then turned to Jamie.

"Where's your battery?"

He ran to the burnt remains of the Demon Vine and searched. The battery was just a shell now.

"This thing gave me the power. Wow."

Sawyer and Leo checked the battery shell carefully and examined every detail.

It was a normal battery. Jamie had many of them in her space. They weren't any special.

"Wow, I touched this and I had lightning shoot from my palm. That's so cool."

Leo jumped and said. Sawyer frowned and he faced Jamie, "Do you have more of these?"

Jamie had but she wasn't going to give then. If he somehow awakened the power because of the battery, she would become a key target.

"How about you try once again and see if you can shoot another lightning bolt?"

The only way to lose the attention on yourself is to focus the spotlight on someone else.

"I'm scared but I'll try."

He tentatively raised his palm and watched it with reverence. Nothing happened.

Jamie rolled her eyes. How was he going to shoot a bolt with this behavior?

"Imagine shooting one!"

Sawyer advised Leo. Finally, someone with a working brain.

Leo closed his eyes as if he was praying and breathed deep and then a purple lightning bolt appeared at the center of his palm.

"LEO!"

He opened his eyes and then his eyes went wide.

"I-I can do this."

He couldn't make it appear for more than twenty seconds but he was happy. He hugged Sawyer and they jumped. It was a happy thing.

"I awakened my powers. Wow. I'm the first person to awaken my powers!"

First person? Did no one else awaken their powers? Interesting!

"Shut up. Not a word of this to others." Sawyer scolded him and he turned to Jamie.

As if thinking would it better to silence her to protect Leo?

Leo looked at both of them and then realized.

"No, Jamie won't tell anyone about my powers. Will you though, Jamie?"
