Mission is always impossible

Jamie followed Sawyer to get three fake IDs. It was surprising how connected he was. He even got her two bank cards. Then he transferred the agreed reward to her.

Jamie was happy to see that.

She didn't speak the whole way back. Just followed his Footsteps.

"You are quiet. You talked a lot with Leo."

He observed.

Leo was sweet sweet Leo. And Sawyer was a threatening, dangerous, and harmful guy. She couldn't joke with him without him finding out her secrets.

"Haha, I feel that talking will make us slow."

She wasn't going to tell him the truth.

He kept walking so she didn't know what his expression was.

They were neighbours so she had to follow him to the end.

"Sawyer, I made this for you."

Celia came running and showed him her knitted glove. When she saw Jamie walking behind him, her expression changed.

"Thank you, Celia. I'm a rough guy and I can't wear such a beautiful glove. You wear it and protect your hands, okay?"

He talked to her in a smooth coaxing voice. How different was it from the way he threatened her? Double standard guy!

Jamie left them there and went back to lay on her bed. But she decided to shower first. Jamie found some dark clothes from her space and wore them. Her previous ones had some zombie stuff and she felt it was appropriate to burn them.

When she came out of the shower, she found a glaring Celia.

"You, don't follow Sawyer!"

"Why?"

"Just don't follow him. He doesn't like girls like that."

Oh! OH! A crush! What did she see in him to like him? Sure, he looked good but good-looking features couldn't cover up his personality. He was just a time bomb ticking away.

"Little girl, think before crushing on guys. They aren't good anyway."

Celia puffed up in anger.

"You aren't allowed to talk about him like that."

"Okay! I don't like him anyway. If I could, I'd want to stay far away from him."

That was the truth. She didn't get her rebirth to get entangled with a guy. She had pure necessary goals to accomplish.

Celia backed off apparently satisfied. Jamie shook her head at her.

She lay on the bed and then started thinking about what she observed. The zombies were powerful here. They evolved and they could form groups. And depending on what she saw, she could feel that the zombies weren't the major threat now. Somehow they coexisted. Not peacefully but they were all okay.

That brought her to the other question. That alien DNA Marc wanted to inject. Where did he get that? And why did he want to do that? What was the use? And was he still working on that experiment?

Who was she kidding? He was definitely working on it. He wouldn't leave such an important project of his that could potentially change everything.

That's why she was so confused about the existing peace here. The tournaments and all hour be a front. For what? She didn't know or understand yet.

Jamie sat up because the thought she had just deduced needed her full attention.

Sawyer knew something. That's why he came out and he wanted to go back to fight. Wow. This guild thing will surely work in her favor.

Jamie was so delighted that she went into her space and ate so much food that she fell asleep the moment she came out.

She didn't know that Celia complained about her to Leo. She didn't know that Leo managed to coax Celia and that allowed her to stay there.

She was woken up by the alarm Celia had set. Celia was a teacher in the village's primary school. So she got up early making Jamie wake up early too.

Jamie sat bleary-eyed watching Celia get ready. She wore chic clothes. Jamie once again understood that life inside the protected zones was really nice.

She then went out and watched the morning sky. Leo came out and greeted her.

"Good morning, Jamie. Are you waiting for me to go hunt?"

"Huh?"

"Yes, today we have to go out and hunt some monster plants to get some supplies. Depending on what we get, we can earn guild points too."

He looked far too happy for a hunting mission.

Sawyer arrived and Leo practically brightened up like an LED bulb, exactly like his sister.

"Come on."

Sawyer took them out of the protected zone and they met ten level one zombies scattered before them.

"Go, Leo," Sawyer said before she could act. Jamie stood back and watched Leo use his newfound lightning powers. He practically took the zombies by surprise before killing them.

"Good, keep improving your powers, and don't let anyone know about them."

Leo nodded happily.

They moved again. They went deeper into the outer zone which was a forest. Monster plants grew so much that Jamie felt that this should be a part of a city before. Now, that became a jungle.

"Be careful. Monster plants may be dangerous. Don't lose your focus."

Jamie listened to his suggestion. She knew that the world now was dangerous and safe at the same time.

"That cave, it should be the dwelling of the monster plant we want. But inside the cave, there may be other things too."

"I say we go in, brother Sawyer."

Jamie didn't comment on it. She felt that Sawyer would go in anyway.

The cave was damp. And because of the heat, Jamie realized that there was something wrong.

Leo lighted his torchlight and they found a level six zombie glaring at them. Before they could run, a vine caught their feet.

Talk about danger and losing focus!

Leo threw his lightning bolts like he was crazy.

Jamie took out her dagger and chopped the vine while Sawyer tried to kick the zombie.

Was he some kind of Vine attracter? The vines loved him.

Leo freed them and they collectively battled with the vine and the zombie who were stronger than they seemed.
