After a long while of laughing, Helena stopped and wiped a couple of drops of tears from the corners of her eyes using her fingers.
She sat straight and cleared her throat, "Ehem. That's your child? Vernon. I don't know what game you are trying to play with me but I am sure about one thing."
Vernon blinked his eyes and asked, "What is it?"
"That woman isn't pregnant at all," She stated calmly.
"What? How do you know that?" Vernon was shocked. So, from the beginning to the end, Helena knew everything? Yet she did not disclose his ideas and went along in front of everyone?
"It was very clear, alright? She is a very amateur actor and had to train harder."
"..." Vernon couldn't help but scold Tristan in his heart for bringing in the 'amateur actor' to him.
He frowned and asked her, "Then why didn't you say anything about that in front of everyone? Why did you stay silent?"
"Because I saw that you were planning something. I don't know who you are planning against, but I don't want to thwart your plans. So, I just went along," Helena stated in a matter-of-fact manner.
Vernon was stunned. No matter what, he did not expect such a reason from her at all.
She thought that he was planning against someone else and went along with him in order to support him. Since he could hear her thoughts, he was sure that she was telling the truth.
But how could it be?
Why was she helping him when the matter was an insult to her face in front of everyone?
She should be more selfish and more calculating against him. Instead, why was she like this?
He couldn't help but frown harder.
"Don't you want to know who I am planning against?" Since she already understood most of his plan, he did not play innocent anymore and asked her directly.
"No." Her answer couldn't be any more simple and direct.
"Why?" He was only more confused than ever.
"Not interested." Once again a direct answer, making him feel stumped for words.
"Why?" He asked again, not understanding her thoughts.
Helena frowned and looked at him. She doesn't want to talk to him anymore. But he was persistently buzzing around her ears like a bee.
Vernon heard her thoughts and blinked his eyes. He turned around to look at himself in the mirror and touched his face as he mumbled to himself, 'How do I look like a bee to her?'
He turned around to look at her, who was still looking at him. He felt uncomfortable under her gaze.
Thankfully, she slowly answered his question seriously, "I am busy with my matters as it is. There is no way I want to care about your matters as well. So please take care of your matters yourself and I will take care of my matters. Thank you."
At the end of her words, she gave him a smile that couldn't appear more fake.
Vernon blinked his eyes. Helena felt different.
How?
He thought for a while.
Slowly he seemed to understand why he felt she was different.
This Helena was the Helena of ten years ago from the Helena he knew.
A few hours before, he was still in his previous life. before her true face came into his view, she had been polite, humble, and loving towards him, no matter what he said or did.
But the Helena in front of him now wasn't like that. She was strong, opinionated, and most importantly verbal about her thoughts in front of him.
She directly said to his face that she didn't want to care about him.
But the Helena in his previous life wasn't like that. She looked like her entire world revolved around him.
The Helena in front of him and the Helena in his previous life seemed to be completely two different persons.
'Did she reborn as well?' He couldn't help but wonder.
But after thinking for a while, he denied that idea.
The hate and coldness he had seen in her eyes in the previous life wasn't seen anywhere at present.
Also, he could hear her thoughts. He couldn't feel any sort of hatred from her thoughts. She really was busy with dealing with her Father about something.
He suddenly slapped himself, 'What are you thinking about? Stop thinking about her. No matter what, one day she will destroy your family. So think about how to divorce her and nothing else.'
"Why did you slap yourself?" Helena asked him in confusion.
[I know he had been an idiot but did he now go crazy? Oh no. I think I should stay away from him. I heard that stupidity is contagious.]
"..." 'Waking myself up made me look like an idiot and stupid? I want to slap myself again, but I am sure this woman will declare that I am an idiot if I do that again, right?'
Vernon sighed in defeat and shook his head, "I just killed a mosquito."
"Oh," Helena nodded in understanding but her thoughts were completely different, [As if. Where are there any mosquitoes in this room? Does he think I am an idiot just like him? Hmph. Whatever!]
Vernon felt even more defeated. He couldn't even argue with her because if he did, she would find that he could hear her thoughts.
He pursed his lips in defeat and asked her, "Shall we go out now? All the guests were waiting for us."
"Didn't I tell you that I am waiting for something from my Father? Wait for a while more."
"..." He realized that she was looking down on him more and more as time passed. Was this how she looked at him in their previous life as well? Is that how she played with his feelings?
"What exactly are you waiting for?" he asked her.
"As I said, it was my matter. You just take care of your matters and I will take care of mine," When she said these words, the light smile she had on her face earlier had vanished. She was very serious.
