Walking around the residence looking for Yi Yun, Zhenya admired the luxurious interior he had only dreamed of owning—polished stone flooring, beautiful door handles, and furniture covered in intricate designs of gold and silver. Just trying to estimate the cost made his head spin. After strolling around for a bit, he finally found Yi Yun sitting in the living room on a big sofa.

"Hey," he greeted her as he scratched the back of his head and took a seat next to her awkwardly. Not knowing what else to say. So they both just sat there in silence trying to come up with something to say to break the ice.

Zhenya couldn't handle the silence anymore; coughing lightly, he started. "How about we both introduce ourselves properly? After I came out of the tomb, everything had been happening so fast," he said as he slouched into the sofa.

Yi Yun nodded. "I'll start then." She said, correcting her posture, breathing in slowly, then exhaling, she continued. "I am Yi Yun; I was a servant for the main family before becoming your personal servant. I enjoy cultivating and cooking." A slight smile appeared on her face.

Then turning toward Zhenya, she looked at him as if urging him to go next to not let the atmosphere turn so awkward again.

Clearing his throat, Zhenya began. "As you know already, I am Jia Zhenya. I am from a branch family and also enjoy cultivating; my parents died a couple of years ago during the beast tide, so I am training to get stronger so that doesn't happen to me." his shoulders heavy and his gaze fixed on the floor. His expression was distant, a faint sadness flickering across his face as he spoke.

Yi Yun also had a somber expression on her face; hearing it for the second time didn't make it any easier to process. "If it's okay with you, would you like to tell me a bit about how it felt after losing your parents?"

Zhenya looked at the girl sitting next to him on the sofa, not sure how to answer that question. "Why do you want to know that?" he asked after pondering for a while.

"Well, I'm not sure myself, to be honest; it just feels like something I should know about. As your personal servant," Yi Yun said with a serious expression. "As your first wife, I should know this," she mumbled under her breath.

"Sorry, what did you say at the end?" Zhenya inquired.

"Nothing, don't worry about it!" Yi Yun shut him down immediately, waving her hands frantically in front of her. As Zhenya raised a brow, unconvinced, she puffed her cheeks and crossed her arms, her lips jutting into a pout. "So, will you tell me a bit about your past?" she asked, tilting her head slightly with an exaggerated look of curiosity, clearly trying to distract him.

"Alright, I'll tell you." Zhenya said, sighing, as he turned slightly red. He had never had contact this close with a girl this cute and with her acting like that. He couldn't handle it very well.

"Do you remember the beast tide that happened five years ago?"

Yi Yun nodded, then Zhenya sat up straight, looking her straight in the eyes. He started. "That is the day I lost both my mom and dad; as you know, I'm from the branch family, so I don't live in the inner court. And because of that, when the tide happened, we had to fend for ourselves, but I was only five years old at that time, so I hadn't even started cultivating yet." a sad look plastered all over his face, he wiped the tears forming in the corner of his eyes away in a resolute movement.

"So I could only watch as my parents hid in the closet and ran outside to protect me." Zhenya finished, and then there was silence again. Yi Yun did not know how to comfort him at this moment; she was frustrated, and she clenched her fists.

'Why can't I say something? I want to say something to make him feel better, but I just don't know what,' she thought, but couldn't come up with anything she could say.

Then Zhenya balled his fist, and his features twisted, his eyebrows scrunching up, a look of pure rage on his face. "But I also learned a lot at that time; I will not let that happen again, and I will wipe out all the monsters in the domain where the beast tide came from!" he stated, standing up and pumping his balled fist forward. "That is the oath I swore to myself that day."

Yi Yun looked at him surprised; she mused to herself, 'Maybe I don't need to do everything for him; he has been through a lot after all.' She clapped a couple of times; she was genuinely impressed by his mental fortitude. She doubted she could do that remembering the warmth of her parents embrace and the care she had gotten from them.

Losing all that at such an early age must have been really hard on him. She stood up and almost subconsciously started patting his head like it was a motherly reflex.

As she was patting his head, she froze, her head turning bright red. She dashed out of the living room as she shouted. "I'll make dinner now!"

Zhenya stood there all alone in the large living room beet red; it looked like there was steam coming out of his ears. "Why did she do that?" he muttered to himself as he let himself fall into the sofa again, grabbing a cushion to cover his face.

"Ahhh, that's so embarrassing. Why did I let her pat me like that?" he shouted into the cushion. "I even lowered my head slightly, so she could pat me better."

And while he was dying from embarrassment on the sofa, Yi Yun in the kitchen wasn't faring any better in the kitchen.

She was also beet-red as she stood in the kitchen preparing the vegetables for dinner. "Why did I do that?" she exclaimed, cutting the vegetables faster and faster to try and forget what had just happened.
