Try Your Luck with That Cheater

Growing up as the pampered daughter of the Elsher family, Stephanie had a long line of admirers and haters alike.

No one dared to find fault with her lest they incurred the wrath of her parents and brothers.

Stephanie's alluring beauty, graceful manners and intelligence were impeccable as if she was blessed with an infinity of good luck.

Aside from the Elsher family's outstanding background and wealth, Stephanie's engagement with Matthias Silvera added more to her blessings.

Stephanie seemed to be the best winner in life. Her admirers flocked to wherever she was, eager to worship the ground she stepped on.

And...

Among them were the people who disguised their hatred and envy under their smiling masks.

Amber Anderson was one of the hypocritical people.

"I only remember you because you keep running after her, dying to be her servant."

Staring at the woman dressed in blue, Lariette arched her brows and smirked, silently taunting the enraged Amber. She knew Amber would act crazy soon.

Her guess came true in the next second.

"LARIETTE! How dare you! Who said I'm Phanie's servant? I'm her friend! Take your word back!"

Amber's yelling blared in the boutique, drowning the remaining of Ruediger's laughter.

The sales assistants were still caught off guard by the abrupt change in atmosphere. They witnessed Amber's sudden appearance as she rushed to yank the dress from Lariette.

Drawing a snicker on her lips, Lariette uttered calmly, "You're angry because you know it's the truth, not because I spoke wrongly."

Amber was taken aback by Lariette's continuous retort. She didn't expect the usually quiet brunette to go against her, especially in public.

This bitch!

How dared she!

Biting her lower lip, Amber glared at Lariette as if her eyes would soon pop out of her sockets. Her nostrils flared, invisible fire bursting out of them.

Lariette turned to look at Ruediger. A wide grin was plastered on his face. She was amused to see his beaming countenance as if he was purely enjoying the show.

An idea crossed Lariette's mind. Stepping closer to Ruediger, she deliberately wrapped both hands around the man's right arm. She softened her voice as she spoke next.

"Let's go somewhere else. What do you think, darling?"

The sudden endearment and intimate action startled Ruediger. Tilting his head, his smile only became wider, "We shall, honey. It's too noisy here."

"Hehe, that's right~"

Treating Amber as if she didn't exist, Lariette and Ruediger exchanged a fond smile before stepping away from the area. Their action stunned Amber.

"W-where are you going? Stop! I said stop!"

Lariette and Ruediger walked without stopping, not acknowledging Amber's demands at all. The sales assistant tried to stop the latter from continuing her embarrassing act.

"Miss, how may we assist you? If you're not pleased with our service..."

"Shut up! Don't block me!"

Amber pushed one of the sales assistants who came to stand opposite her. She shifted her eyes to Lariette before they focused on the back of the crimson-haired man.

That man looked so unfamiliar. She had never seen him before.

And...

Why he acted so affectionate with that damn country bumpkin?!

Wasn't she an item with Damien?

A realization dawned on Amber. Wasting no time to humiliate Lariette, she yelled. Her words were clear as day, spreading in the entire boutique.

"Lariette! Who's this man? Wow! You're a cheating whore now! I'll tell Damien about this! And Phanie!"

Ruediger hastily halted his steps, his body froze as a surge of anger flared within him. His head throbbing, Amber's insult toward Lariette sparked outrage from the depths of his heart.

Stiffly turning around, Ruediger's blazing emerald eyes landed on Amber. The usual calm smile vanished from his face.

Amber put up her bold front, locking her eyes with Ruediger.

'Why haven't I seen him before? Is he not from high society?'

Amber couldn't deny she was attracted to the devilishly handsome man by Lariette's side. His piercing emerald eyes seemed to blaze with fury but, it didn't stop her from admiring him.

Trying to suppress his anger, Ruediger let out a low growl, "What did you say? How dare you insult her."

The change in Ruediger's demeanor startled Lariette. She caught silent fury in his voice, something she heard when he dealt with Damien for her before.

"Hah! I'm telling the truth!" Amber declared smugly, not affected by Ruediger's fury, "This bitch has a man! You better save yourself from this cheating whore!"

'This bitch surely lies to him. I better expose her.'

Thinking Lariette trapped this man with sweet nothings, Amber was determined to uncover her deceits.

"Eddy, let's just go," Lariette tugged at Ruediger's arm, "She isn't worth your time."

Ruediger clenched his jaw, knowing Lariette didn't want to cause more scenes nor waste any time on this foul-mouthed woman.

Despite being terribly upset on her behalf, Ruediger didn't want to go against Lariette's wish. He exhaled a sigh, trying to soothe his anger.

"If that's what you want," Ruediger smiled weakly, "Let's go."

Lariette returned the smile, appreciating Ruediger's thoughtfulness. She was eager to leave but, only after putting Amber back in her place.

Once Lariette landed her sapphire eyes on Amber's arrogant face, a frosty smile curled on her lips.

"For the record, I've broken up with Damien. Didn't you aim for him before? You can try your luck with that cheater."

"...what?"

Lariette arched her brows, smiling knowingly. Throughout the two years of her relationship with Damien, she was aware that Amber tried pining on that man.

Undeniably Damien was a good catch. His background, good looks and wealth easily lured women to him.

Unfortunately, he couldn't keep his puny wood in his pants.

"Good luck."

Winking at the stunned Amber, Lariette pulled Ruediger to resume walking. None of them bothered to look back anymore.

"...what was that? Did they really break up?"

Amber replayed Lariette's words in her mind. She hadn't heard of the latter breaking up with Damien. Stephanie never said anything about it.

Frowning, Amber looked at Lariette and Ruediger's disappearing figures. She couldn't keep her attention away from the unfamiliar crimson-haired man.

Who was he?

Was he truly the country bumpkin's newest man or... was he simply an escort to fill her loneliness?

"There's no way someone like him will be with her," muttered Amber, "She surely pays him."

The glint of jealousy in Amber's eyes changed to delight. Taking her phone out of her handbag, she quickly opened the group chat she was in with her friends, including Stephanie.

[Amber: Guys! I saw that bumpkin with a new man!👀]

[Amber: @Stephanie did she really break up with Damien?]

[Amber: That bitch said that]

Curling up her lips, Amber couldn't help but think of the truth.

If it was the truth...

She would snatch Damien for herself!
