Despite not being his intention, Declan's words sent alarm bells ringing in Lariette's mind. She inwardly told herself not to panic because as of now, she was in a safe environment.
No matter who that man was, he couldn't hurt her.
"Who was that man?" Lariette returned her gaze to Declan, her narrowing eyes flickering with suspicions, "Have you known his identity?"
Declan lightly shook his head, seemingly regretting not being able to give Lariette the answer she needed.
"Unfortunately, no."
Lariette held back from sighing. She forced herself to relax instead of being agitated. Doing so wouldn't be good for her.
"What else did you hear from them? Anything from your investigation?"
Lariette knew Declan learned more from what he had just told her. She could only hope there were more clues about the two men.
"Yes. There's more."
