With a grunt, he pushed off the Lieutenant's moving body and rushed away, heading towards the opening that led down to the cave.
He had not even covered half the distance when the creature's low snarls pierced through the air as it suddenly collided against the wall of the cave, its maw emitting black smoke.
Its six eyes were blinded with crimson rage, as it released a timbre of pain and fury from its maw, shaking the interior of the cave to its very foundation.
It sounded like a call for war as if it had found an enemy worth killing.
With a steady gaze fixed on Paxton, it crawled its way after him, its body moving like a speeding train, destroying everything that came in its path.
Of course, that included the moving body of the Lieutenant that was quickly squashed by its piercing rows of legs.
It didn't hesitate a bit on getting to Raph's opening. It's maw once again as a grotesque sound of delight pierced through the air.
Paxton cursed under his breath, his gaze meeting the crimson-filled ones of the creature.
He looked away and slid down, dodging it by a hair's breadth as he fell into the opening.
The creature snarled in fury and went after him with hastened movements. Its instincts scream at it to kill the human immediately.
It rushed into the opening, its body barely slipping through, as its powerful exoskeleton was torn by the sharp edges of the walls between them.
Paxton landed with a thud, his body screaming in pain as he grunted, but he didn't give himself the time of respite. With quick movements, he stood up and continued to run away from the creature, and just on time too.
As the opening was suddenly cracked and broken, pieces of the cave fell as the creature forced its way down in a ragged fury. Its screams were close to demonic, filled with emotions of pain and rage.
It rushed after him despite its wounds, its body wearing out from the constant collisions. Its insides were still in a mess too, but it would recover over time.
Paxton cursed as his gaze suddenly spotted an opening, this a lot smaller than the former. It seemed small enough for him to pass through, but too small for the creature to even attempt it.
He heard a sudden collision behind him, followed by the cracking and crumbling of the cave, sending a wave of warning through his body.
He looked back to find the creature suddenly charging at him with twice as much speed as it used before.
It had projected its body forward, using the walls as a medium, and its speed now was nearly twice that of a speeding train.
He couldn't help but curse his luck as he was forced to turn around just as he reached the opening, holding out the two bayonets like a bat.
Its maw was wide open, and the distance closed in the blink of an eye as Paxton found himself clouded by darkness, grotesque saliva, and the fangs of a Glitch.
He suddenly stabbed one bayonet into the upper palate of the creature's maw and stumped his foot on the Lower palate, holding it from closing its maw shut.
The smell of warm blood and guys assaulted his senses, but his body couldn't care less about that. He needed to survive! That was all.
He whipped the tip of the bayonet around, facing it to the upper palate and pulling the trigger frantically.
Continued emission of smoke and eruption of sound occurred as bullets pierced through the upper palate, causing a sudden surge of pain in the creature.
It screamed as it slammed its face on the wall, its body jerking in rage as it attempted to force its mouth shut.
Paxton grabbed the bayonet over to his mouth and held it firmly with it. He pulled down his bag, opening it in a hurry, and grabbing a remote switch before throwing the whole bag into the beast's maw.
'I collected every explosive before venturing into this place, but the strongest should be the remote control detonators'. He thought as he pulled the bayonet away from his mouth and stabbed it into the creature's lower palate.
The creature cried out as it slammed its head against the wall yet again, but Paxton's resistance and persistence remained unperturbed.
Blood dribbled down to the floor like giant raindrops, while its mouth was filled with thick saliva mixed with blood.
The amount of horridness Paxton had to face was concerning, but he didn't let that stop his drive.
He pulled the trigger and shot out the bullets into the Lower portion until it clicked without releasing a single thing.
With a click of his tongue, he released his finger from the trigger and glanced behind him. If he were to let go of the bayonets now, there was no way he could escape, but if he pulled the trigger now, he would be mixed in the haze.
Fortunately for him, the creature's movement had slowed down, fatigue quickly catching up to it. The constant and bizarre movements it carried out to catch him had finally come at a price.
Without wasting as much as a second, he dashed out of the creature's maw, jumping into the air towards the opening as he held out the remote control.
The creature's eyes dilated as it rushed after him when Paxton's fingers brushed against the top of the detonator.
Both were nearly a second away from the goals, as the creature had nearly had Paxton in its maws once again while Paxton had almost entered the opening fully.
It was like a game of dice; the head would mean he lived, and tails would spell his death, but even probability couldn't stop him.
CLICK
BOOM!
He clicked the detonator, causing his bag of bombs to implode on itself as his body fully entered the opening, cascading a brilliance of darkness over the red light caused by the explosion.
The creature wasn't even given a chance to scream out as its body was blasted into bits by the bombs, sending the piece of its body in different directions as an eerie echo of the explosion spread throughout the Cave.
Paxton was left to his thoughts as he slid down the restricted interior of the opening, his body scratching against the wall surface.
He couldn't control his momentum, neither could he control the speed.
He wasn't sure how fast he was moving, but the surface was slippery enough to increase the speed with each second.
He attempted to stop himself from falling, but the walls proved slippery, easily sliding his grip away from its surface when he attempted.
'This is bad…' he thought before searching through his pocket for his army knife. He found it just in time and stabbed it into the wall, but it barely left a scratch.
He continued with frantic persistence, but it left only scratches unable to pierce through the interior or leave any significant imprint.
'These fucking human weapons'. He thought with a sigh when his body suddenly struck an extended distention of the cave with a loud thud.
He groaned, his eyes constricting and a wave of pain spreading through his body as his direction was suddenly changed.
He was forced to slam against another distention with a heavy thud, sending twice the pain as his direction was changed again. He groaned deeply, his head spinning in overdrive.
Unable to even control where he was going, he was left at the mercy of the cave as his body struck a series of five distentions. Each spreading pain further, and disarranging his senses in the process.
He was thrown out into a larger exterior of the cave after colliding with a sixth, his body unresponsive before crashing into the hard surface of the ground.
Paxton lay there, unable to move and unable to think of moving, fatigue spreading through his body as he remained unconscious.
