Chapter 35: The Power of the Soul Orb
---
With the success of the Soul Orb, Kent felt a renewed sense of purpose. Nima has a way to level up her soul servant.
As long as he had the system and his family Nima by his side, there was nothing he couldn't achieve.
"Get ready, Nima," he said, patting her shoulder. "This is just the beginning. We're going to need every ounce of our strengths if we want to survive this world right now."
Her determined gaze met him. "I'm ready, Kent. Whatever comes, we'll face it together."
The Bear stood silently, its translucent, ghostly form glowing faintly as it began to absorb the energy from the Soul Refinement Orb.
The artifact, now dimming, pulsed rhythmically, as if syncing with the spiritual energy of the Bear's soul.
Kent watched intently, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. The light from the orb reflected in his eyes, a mix of curiosity and pride.
"I think it's working," he muttered to himself.
Nima, is lying on the floor, pouting as she observes the process. "It's still ugly. I thought leveling up would make it sparkle or grow wings or something. At least make it fluffy!"
Kent smirked. "What did you expect? A magical unicorn? I can't control the looks, Nima. Leveling up doesn't come with glitter and confetti."
She glared at him, her sharp gaze piercing. "You always promise me cool things, and I always end up with something creepy! You're the worst, Kent!"

Kent chuckled as the system notification popped up. "Relax, little genius. The Bear's strength is what matters. You'll see its value soon enough."
The room grew warmer as the Bear's body began to change. Its spectral form solidified slightly, the faint outlines of muscles and sharper claws becoming visible. Its once translucent fur took on a faint sheen, giving it a more robust appearance.
Nima's eyes widened, her pout fading into awe. "Wait... is it actually getting stronger?"
Ding!
System Notification:
Souls From Orb has been fully absorbed. The bound soul has leveled up.
Kent raised an eyebrow. "System, show the details."
Ding!

2. Strengthened Spiritual Defense. ]
Nima's mouth dropped. "It leveled up! I didn't even have to do anything!"
"See?" Kent said, nudging her shoulder. "Told you it wasn't a waste of time."
The Bear growled softly, as if acknowledging its growth. It stood taller, its once-awkward movements now fluid and deliberate.
"Well, it's still ugly," Nima muttered, crossing her arms. "But at least it's now a strong kind of ugly now."
Kent was about to tease her again when the system chimed.
Ding!
Mission Reminder..
Investigate the corruption's origin of the Emerald Vein.
Objective: Trace the source of the corruption affecting spiritual energy in your region.
Reward: Unknown item, and new skill slot unlock.
Kent's smirk faded, replaced by a serious expression. "Emerald Vein… That's tied to the corruption Nexus has been handling."
"What's that face for?" Nima asked, narrowing her eyes. I should be making this face. The bear didn't become cute.
"Nothing you need to worry about," Kent replied, ruffling her hair. "You focus on training your Bear. I've got some work to do."
Nima grabbed his wrist before he could walk away. "Don't you dare do something dangerous without telling me!"
Kent paused, looking down at her determined face. He sighed. "Fine. I'll tell you... later. For now, just trust me, okay?"
Kent pulls out some paper binding.. It is the book. He read the book from the library again to get some clues. He made a copy of some pages before the left the library.
As he flipped through the pages, one passage stood out:
The passage says
"Corrupted sites often lead to the appearance of mutated beasts, unstable spiritual lands, and a decline in cultivator health. If left unchecked, these sites can spiral out of control, endangering entire regions."
He folds the page with a thud, his mind racing. "So I have to go back there again."
Nima's eyes sparkled with curiosity. " What are you reading? I want to read too!"
It's a book for older people. You can't read.
Nima said,But you are not old. Why do you get to read it?
I am bigger than you so I am allowed to read it.

Later that evening, Kent stood at the edge of the forest. He tightened the straps on his backpack, his resolve firm.
"Alright, system. Let's see what you've got for me."
The forest loomed ahead, dark and foreboding. But Kent wasn't afraid. With his abilities, his system, and his determination, he knew he could face whatever lay ahead.
The Emerald Vein and the corruption it harbored were waiting.Kent crouched low, his eyes scanning the perimeter of the Emerald Vein.
The moonlight illuminated the dense forest, casting long shadows that danced ominously in the breeze. This time, the area was far more fortified than before.
Around the facility, Nexus operatives patrolled in pairs, their spiritual energy faintly detectable even at this distance. Spotlights mounted on trees swept across the forest floor, and the hum of drones filled the air.
"Well, this just got a whole lot harder," Kent muttered to himself, adjusting his backpack.
He activated his Spiritual Clock, a cloaking ability that masked his presence by bending spiritual energy around him.
Ding!
Spiritual Clock activated.
"Kent whispered, his brow furrowing. "I'll have to move fast."
With the cloaking ability shielding him, Kent slipped past the first set of guards. The Spiritual Clock not only hid his spiritual signature but also muffled his footsteps, making him a ghost in the dense forest.
As Kent crept closer to the facility, he noticed new barriers had been set up. A faint shimmer in the air revealed a spiritual energy detection array. Crossing it without alerting the guards would be impossible.
