Chapter 15 : Lycan Hills
The berserker who Nash had killed was named [Stone] and he did not feel the need to change the name after he returned.
Stone had come back into the same novice village to meet the announcement of a red flagged player, [Neon], and while most were not interested in hunting this player down because it offered almost no reasonable gain to their character, Stone did not relent.
He could use the coins and what better way to earn coins than to get them after exacting your revenge.
Stone simply loved the idea of getting back at Nash and so rejoined his group when he enlisted their help.
Having fought Nash firsthand, he could tell that Nash had some good skills and items that he could benefit from.
"That's him," Stone alerted the rest.
"Are you sure that guy is level 2, Stone," said one of them. "You lost to him easily though."
Stone's face twisted with rage and shot his teammate a cold stare.
"Just saying," the teammate defended himself.
"Don't get it twisted," Stone responded. "I underestimated him too and I paid for it. He is strong and can already use a stealth skill."
"You know we are only doing this because you said he has some good items we can loot after killing him," the third person said.
Stone sighed in his heart and nodded.
It was clear that these two were not putting in as much heart as he was into punishing Nash but he couldn't blame them. They were not the ones killed by a player lower ranked than them.
******
Nash was headed to the hill on the west side from the village.
He was searching for a gift box and needed to be fast with it.
This gift box was one that could be assessed once a day and if he missed it, he would have to wait until tomorrow to get a chance at getting it and that was not even guaranteed.
Nash recalled the location but he was not sure if the gift box would still be there.
That was precisely the reason he wanted Eileen to also go into the village and search for similar items that they wanted, just in case he failed with the gift box.
*Ding*
[You have located the Lycan Hills]
[Fame: +1]
*Howl*
Though it was faint, Nash could pick up the sound of wolves howling in the distance.
The Lycan Hills were home to wild wolves and the main monster of this location was a Wild Alpha Wolf that ranged anywhere between level 2 to 4. Players would have their hands full if they encountered such a beast.
Unlike the domesticated animals of the [Animal Farm], the Wild Alpha Wolf of the Lycan Hills was an aggressive, voracious monster that knew how to also attack, and quite ferociously too.
Fortunately, Nash had more experience than his appearance revealed and he could deduce the range of the wolves' aggro.
All he really had to do was avoid them and if he successfully did that, then there would be no trouble.
The same could not be said for the three players that were tracking and following him.
They did not have the same amount of knowledge that Nash had and ended up drawing the attention of the wolves, further shifting the focus from Nash to themselves.
"Are you sure this guy is not using any cheats?"
"Yo, Stone! Did you bring us here to die?"
Stone was just as frustrated as they were but he could vent his anger on either of them since he was the mastermind behind their plan of following Nash.
They kept lamenting, making loud noises as they fought off the wolves as much as they could.
The noise was enough to draw Nash's attention and as soon as he realised he was being followed, Nash hid.
He remained hidden as he observed his environment, eventually spotting where the whole ruckus was coming from.
It was then that he saw Stone and his group.
"This guy again," he muttered as his lips curled into a smile.
A diabolical plan was cooking inside Nash's mind as he watched the trio struggle against the wolves.
Seeing how they were still alive, Nash knew this set of wolves were probably level 2.
He had to deal with these three players and at the same time, he had to do it in a way that he would not be flagged again.
"Bingo," Nash muttered excitedly, just enough for only him to hear.
He proceeded to find some other wolves in the hill, attracting their attention and shifting their aggro towards him.
From a distance, that would give him the advantage of a headstart when he wants to run, Nash got the wolves angry and ready to attack.
'Since you want to play again, I will indulge you and play with you.'
Nash enraged the wolves by hurling different things at them, making them turn their attention towards him and charge forward.
Seeing how they pursued him, Nash ran in the direction that led to where Stone and his group were.
Thanks to the distance he had maintained between him and the wolves, he was safe.
Otherwise, this canine creatures would have caught up immediately and torn him to shreds.
He continued to run until he reached a small cliff.
Without hesitating, Nash jumped from the cliff.
[Stealth]
Midair, he activated his stealth skill and vanished. The wolves who had approached and jumped down the cliff as well were left confused.
Nash was nowhere to be found, but before the wolves could even pay attention to single Nash out, they were distracted by the struggling trio.
Stone and his group were terribly worn out.
They gasped severely from exhaustion and hopelessness, especially now a pack of six fresh wolves were coming their way.
As this particular set was level 3 to 4, Stone and the others didn't know what to do anymore.
The wolves surrounded them in a circle, making this circular formation to slowly rotate as they moved around Stone's group.
There was nothing they could do.
They couldn't run, nor could they call for help.
