CH: 127 Wind corpse beads

{Chapter: 127 Wind corpse beads}

A massive energy bomb radiating dazzling light surged forth, bombarding the Mutant Raven King with a force that could shake the very ground. The once-mighty mutant, rushing toward William with every intent to annihilate him, found itself too slow to evade. Though it twisted its body slightly in an attempt to dodge, the energy bomb struck its right wing squarely.

An ear-splitting, guttural cry erupted from the creature, its agonized wail reverberating through the air like an otherworldly lament. The explosion that followed was devastating—flames licked hungrily at the mutant's grotesque form, and the violent impact of the energy blast left no mercy. Its entire right wing, along with the right half of its body, was obliterated into a gruesome spray of flesh and blood. Black feathers, singed and shredded, rained down to the earth like macabre confetti.

The Mutant Raven King crashed to the ground with a thunderous boom that seemed to echo endlessly, forming a massive crater upon impact. Dust and yellow sand billowed into the air, veiling the battlefield in a suffocating haze. The towering beast lay crippled, desperately flapping its remaining left wing in a futile attempt to rise. Its pitiful struggle to stand only resulted in its blood, thick and as black as tar, flowing freely onto the earth, staining the sand in morbid streaks of darkness.

William approached the fallen beast, his steps deliberate and unhurried, exuding an aura of unshakable dominance. "Accept your fate," he declared, his voice carrying an almost amused finality. "Your destiny ends here. Making me transform twice… you should consider it an honor to die by my hand."

The mutant crow king, sensing its impending doom, let out pitiful cries, retreating as best as its mangled body allowed. "Cow, cow!" it wailed, the sound more desperate than defiant.

"Begging for mercy?" William chuckled, his tone laced with disdain. "Sorry, but you're far too ugly to deserve pity. Your death will serve a greater purpose." His gaze flicked toward the glimmer of the transformation corpse bead he sought within the creature, his intention crystal clear.

Suddenly, the Mutant Raven King surged forward with unexpected ferocity, its shattered body lunging at William in a desperate, last-ditch attack.

"Looks like you've made your decision. Fine, let me assist you in your demise." With a single, decisive motion, William swung his massive black sword. The blade moved with unnatural precision, a streak of cold, glinting light cutting through the air.

The screeching of the mutant crow king was abruptly silenced, replaced by an eerie stillness. Its gargantuan body remained poised mid-attack for a fleeting moment before it slowly began to separate, neatly cleaved in half. Blood and viscera spilled forth, pooling at William's feet as the two halves of the creature collapsed to the ground with a sickening squelch.

"Game over," William muttered, his voice devoid of emotion.

Without wasting another moment, he stepped closer to the mutilated corpse, plunging his enormous sword into the beast's gaping maw. With a practiced motion, he twisted the blade and flicked it upward. From the depths of the creature's body, a pale cyan bead flew out, its glow ethereal and captivating, even amid the carnage.

"What… what is that?" Terry asked, his voice barely a whisper, awe and confusion etched onto his face.

"It's a corpse bead," Jill replied matter-of-factly, her eyes locked on the shimmering orb. "Such a powerful mutant creature is bound to have one inside it."

"Corpse bead?" Claire frowned, the term foreign yet strangely ominous.

"How do you even know that?" Alice questioned, her voice tinged with suspicion.

Jill's lips curled into a faint smirk. "William once killed a mutant great white shark—over sixty feet long. That creature had one too. It's his... specialty."

William, seemingly oblivious to the exchange, held the pale blue bead aloft, his eyes glinting with satisfaction. "The power of the wind resides within this," he murmured, almost to himself. "The Wind Corpse Bead." He tucked it away, his expression unreadable.

The enormous, hulking form of his Transformer body began to break apart. The layers of black, metallic armor that had made him an unstoppable giant now disintegrated into a swarm of glowing, crimson Transformium particles. A faint blue light shimmered as the particles scattered into the air, like fireflies dispersing into the blue light.

Within moments, the towering metal colossus was gone, leaving William standing there in his human form. The crimson Transformium particles swirled around him briefly before sinking into his body, vanishing without a trace.

"Where did he go?" Terry asked, her voice tinged with nervous anticipation as she scanned the battlefield.

"Isn't it obvious?" Jill said, her tone sharp yet amused. "He's right behind us."

The group turned in unison, startled by the sudden sound of William's voice. "Miss me already?" he asked, his smirk as infuriatingly confident as ever.

"William!" Terry exclaimed, her face lighting up with relief.

Jill's eyes flickered with a momentary glimmer of something unreadable. "Thought you'd actually bite the dust this time," she quipped, though her tone betrayed a hint of admiration.

"William…" Kmart stammered, her gaze filled with a mix of awe and uncertainty. "You're... you're incredible."

"William," Claire interrupted, her voice cold and steady as she raised her gun. "I haven't forgotten. I'm going to kill you."

William tilted his head, amusement dancing in his eyes. "It seems I'm quite popular today," he remarked with mock cheerfulness. "So many people want me dead."

"There's nothing funny about this," Claire snapped. "Do you have any idea what you've done?"

William's expression darkened slightly. "And what, exactly, have I done?"

"The fleet," Claire said, her voice trembling with anger.

William's gaze hardened, and he responded with icy calm. "When you chose to come here, you should've been prepared to pay the price. With or without me, your team was doomed the moment you walked into this trap."

Claire fell silent, his words cutting through her like a blade.

Alice stepped forward, her tone quieter but resolute. "Claire, I'm sorry. This is all because of me. They set this trap for me."

Claire shook her head slowly. "It's not your fault. I was too weak to protect everyone."

William regarded her for a moment, his expression unreadable. "In this world, the weak do not survive," he said bluntly.

Alice's eyes narrowed. "I'll make sure they pay for this," she vowed. "All of them."

William's lips curled into a faint smile. "Good. Just don't get yourself killed along the way."
