CH: 129 Tyrant

{Chapter: 129 Tyrant}

White Queen's holographic figure observed William with her luminous eyes, a hint of curiosity evident in her tone. "You're William, correct? The company has been investigating you for a long time. They find you... intriguing."

"Investigating me? That's no surprise," William replied with a smirk, leaning back casually. "I'm the kind of guy people can't help but watch."

"They're particularly curious about how you acquired your abilities. Their objective is to capture you and dissect every secret," White Queen continued, her voice clinical yet oddly emotive.

Alice, standing nearby, crossed her arms and chuckled faintly. "Seems like you've got some fans in high places, William. The Umbrella Corporation really has a thing for you."

William grinned nonchalantly. "I can't blame them. I am pretty extraordinary."

Turning her attention to White Queen, Alice asked, "What happened here? This place looks like ground zero for something catastrophic."

White Queen's expression didn't change as she answered. "Dr. Isaacs returned here after being bitten by his own test subject. He injected himself with a newly developed serum, derived from the blood of your replicas. This caused an uncontrollable mutation, resulting in a massive outbreak and eventual collapse of this facility."

Alice's eyes narrowed. "The blood of my replicas… they were experimenting on them?"

"Correct," White Queen confirmed. "Your blood, fused with the T-virus, was key to the research. Dr. Isaacs believed it held the potential to resolve the biochemical crisis permanently."

Alice froze, her breath catching for a moment. "Wait… are you saying my blood can cure all of this? End it once and for all?"

White Queen nodded slightly. "Yes. This division is equipped with everything necessary to synthesize a cure, provided we have enough of your blood."

The weight of this revelation hit Alice hard. "It could all be over…" she murmured, half to herself.

William, who had been silently observing the exchange, interjected. "Wait a second. White Queen, are you saying that zombies could be turned back into humans with this cure?"

In the movie Resident Evil, no cure was created. After Zombie Resident Evil 3, it still exists. If it is really possible to transform zombies back to humans, then who ruined the plan?

The AI hesitated for a fraction of a second before answering, "Theoretically, yes. But it depends on the level of cellular degradation. Those too far gone may not survive the reversal."

William chuckled, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Well, isn't that a twist? The noble idea of saving humanity. Makes you wonder who screwed up the plan to begin with."

Alice stared at him, her expression a mixture of hope and skepticism. "So, it's possible. But what's the catch?"

"There's one major obstacle," White Queen admitted. "Dr. Isaacs, or rather, the creature he's become. He has mutated into a form far beyond the average tyrant. I've managed to contain him in the lower levels, but the containment won't last much longer. Once he's free, he'll stop at nothing to destroy anything in his path."

William smirked. "A tyrant? That's it? Please, that's child's play for someone like me."

White Queen's hologram flickered slightly as she spoke again. "I advise you not to underestimate him. Dr. Isaacs is no ordinary tyrant. Unlike most infected, he retains his intelligence and memories. He is highly dangerous."

William waved his hand dismissively, walking toward the corridor ahead. "Dangerous, sure. But I'm not exactly ordinary myself."

As he passed White Queen's projection, he reached out a hand, letting it pass through her insubstantial form.

"What are you doing?" White Queen asked, her tone slightly confused.

William sighed theatrically. "It's a shame. You're adorable, It's a pity not to be able to touch your face but there's no substance to you. Literally."

After the white was a little faint, "touch my face, I don't understand what you mean."

Alice rolled her eyes. "Oh, great. Now you're flirting with a hologram. You're not some creepy L*li-obsessed weirdo, are you?"

William shrugged, feigning innocence. "What? I'm just appreciating beauty when I see it. Am I that kind of person? I like cute girls. Think of it as… paternal admiration."

Alice scoffed. "Paternal? Give me a break."

William grinned. "Misunderstood, as always. That's the burden I carry. I'm used to being misunderstood. I can't help it. I'm such a controversial person. Anyway, enough chatter. We've got work to do."

The two approached a reinforced iron door. White Queen's image reappeared on a small monitor beside it.

"I will open the door," she informed them.

"Go ahead," Alice replied, her voice steady.

The door creaked open, revealing a dimly lit passageway. Alice switched on her flashlight, scanning the room ahead.

"You know, with me here, you don't really need to worry," William said casually.

Alice didn't even glance at him as she replied, "I don't rely on anyone to protect me. My life is mine to safeguard. Even if I die, I'll do it on my own terms."

William chuckled softly. "Classic Alice. Always the lone wolf."

"Don't pretend you know me," she shot back coldly. "We're barely acquaintances."

"Acquaintances?" William raised an eyebrow. "We fought side by side back in Raccoon City. That counts for something, doesn't it? Ah, the nostalgia."

A sudden movement flashed in the corner of Alice's vision. She spun around, her gun at the ready, but saw nothing.

"He's playing hide-and-seek with us," William remarked, unfazed. "Let's keep moving."

They entered a laboratory drenched in blood. Broken equipment lay scattered across the floor, and a glass chamber filled with bodies hung eerily in the center of the room. The air was thick with the stench of decay.

Alice's flashlight stopped on a large glass tube filled with liquid. Inside, a woman curled up, her eyes closed. She was a perfect replica of Alice herself.

"Another one of your clones," William commented dryly.

Alice approached the tube, placing her hand against the glass. For a moment, she simply stared at the figure inside, her expression unreadable.

"There are so many of 'you' out there?" William asked. "What are you going to do about them?"

Before Alice could answer, a massive tentacle shot out from the shadows, aiming directly at William.

William sidestepped easily, grinning. "Oh, look. Tentacle porn. You're finally showing yourself, Dr. Isaacs—or should I say, tyrant?"

The tentacle slammed into the glass tube, shattering it. Liquid spilled onto the floor, and the clone inside gasped, her eyes snapping open.

Alice acted instantly, pulling a knife from her boot and hurling it with precision. The blade embedded itself in the tyrant's shoulder, eliciting a deafening roar.

"Well," William said, his grin widening. "Let the show begin."
