Duck, Jump and Slide

Concrete tiles smashed below their feet, each step launching them across the tall buildings closer to the airport. Nails shot toward them, planting themselves deep into the stone. Priscilla snapped her head back, her beedy red eyes following their every move. Their bodies were invisible, but she could see them by the bloodlust they reeked. From her back, she withdrew the pearly wand, shooting rocks toward the assailants. Despite not carrying too much power, it managed to slow them down a tad bit.

Lucia had been chanting under her voice for several minutes, and an abundance of magical power began building up around her head, one close to the aura Priscilla felt from Mika's entire body. Her eyes were dead set on an invisible point ahead, each step perfectly planned like a ballerina's dance, dodging every obstacle and needle that flew toward her.

'Shit I gotta think of something!' Priscilla muttered under her breath. She tapped her ring, withdrawing the dagger from Dracula's castle, its blade shining brightly from the sun's rays. With a flick of the wrist, the blade flew toward the eyes, slicing one before returning to her hand, the boomerang tactic worked greatly against the entity in the veil and this situation seemed to be no different.

She slit her forearm a little, drawing at Sors to materialise, his form shining brilliantly with the abundance of magic in the area.

'What do you need me to do?'

'Cut down my enemies.' Priscilla pointed at the veiled opponents.

'Sounds good to me. What do I get out of it?' Sors began negotiating, fishing for something beneficial from helping her.

'I will keep you summoned for as long as you like, regardless of how much magical power it will drain.'

'Deal!' The scissors flew through the air slicing apart half of the opponents in the blink of an eye. Lucia whipped her head around releasing all of the air in her lungs.

'VORACIOUS BEAST, CONSUME THY ENEMY' The entire world froze, Priscilla's eyes could barely follow the movements as their bodies were ripped to shreds. Its giant face contained many eyes, each staring at the veiled figures, large tentacles with jagged teeth ate away at the assailants' fading veils.

The world resumed, birds fluttering their wings in the wind, people barked at each other on the busy streets and cars honked furiously at one another. Priscilla peered over at Lucia who had already moved to inspect what remained of the bodies, each containing a bible titled ''Gospel'' with several broken low-level artefacts. Lucia discarded anything which held little use and stuffed the rest into her bag which seemed deceptively small despite the amount of clothes that it contained.

'So...When were you going to tell me you got such a neat dagger and ring?' Lucia placed her hand on Priscilla's quivering shoulder.

'Tomorrow?' Priscilla spoke softly.

Lucia sighed and looked annoyed before trying to snatch away the glistening ring.

'Give it to me!'

'No!! You don't know what I went through to get this!' Priscilla ducked under a large ventilation unit, its metal roots being plucked from the ground with ease revealing a much more annoyed Lucia.

'And you don't understand that the ring reeks of HER essence. That ring is not as much trouble as it's worth. I can understand why they were following us now.' Lucia snatched Priscilla's wrist, the bones cracking under her immense strength.

'I promise, I can handle what is to come. This is really useful and I have hundreds of items stored inside.'

'Where did you get those items?' Lucia raised an eyebrow, genuinely curious as nothing seemed to be missing from the cavern when they had left.

'These items were taken from Dracula's castle inside the veil-'

'Dracula?? That old man was in the veil? That complicates things, but you stealing everything he owned is definitely for the better.'

'Yeah! And I even met a girl named Mika. She was extremely powerful, to begin with, and then she pulled off one of the pieces of paper strapped to her body and her magical power doubled.'

Lucia flashed a crooked smile, it was not basked in her normal confidence, rather it was covered by a dark miasma flavoured similarly to envy.

'When you arrive at Patagonia, I need you to excel over that girl. That is what I expect of you as a member of my coven. If you fail then your head will come off.' Lucia gripped the sides of Priscilla's face, stretching so far apart that the skin began splitting and blood trickling through the fissures.

'S-stop hurting me...p-please.' Lucia snapped back into the moment, her momentary haze fading into the back of her mind.

'I-I'm sorry. Let's head to the airport quickly.' She picked up her back and began dashing away, putting space between the two.

'What was up with her?' Sors hovered through the air close to Priscilla's head.

'I would like to know just like you. Just what could possibly make her act like this?'
