Leslie let out a sarcastic laugh. "Are you making fun of me?"

"Not at all," Raegan responded. "It takes courage to do something as drastic as fleeing your own wedding. Most people wouldn't have the nerve."

Raegan was genuinely intrigued. 'What circumstances led this beautiful yet seemingly vulnerable woman to make such a daring decision?'

However, recognizing they weren't close enough for him to pry into her personal matters, he suppressed his curiosity and opted to steer the conversation towards himself.

"I should mention, I'm not a professional chauffeur," Raegan stated matter-of-factly. "A young lady like yourself should be more cautious. Shouldn't you at least inquire about my occupation?"

Leslie gave a slight smile, her previous discomfort dissipating. Somehow, his frankness made her feel at ease.

"Okay," she said with a hint of playfulness. "What's your line of work?"
