Edrick had been correct, the simple presentation of a genuine family charm from the Elt was enough to get him a premium entry into the Myriad-Arm Sect, thanks to Zixuan's memories, he knew very well that the influential family was somewhat at odds with the righteous sect, but not quite in conflict either, so a potential opportunity to mend the relationship and perhaps earn a fruitful, economic bond was simply not something that could be squandered.
Moreover, they knew nothing of him as a person, and now that they had invited him in, even if they found out about is somewhat unrighteous conduct, they wouldn't be capable of bringing themselves to sprain the possibility at a reconciliation with the Elt through him as kicking him out would be equivalent to another spit at the family.
Though, Anoteros had not been expecting such magnificent treatment from the get-go, that residence was exactly what he loved, peaceful, away from other people, lost in nature… Furthermore, that nice forest was situated within a closed-off space, inside the already closed-off sect, so it was very secure and it was unlikely for anyone to just be wandering around, especially since Gang had explained that this area was for 'special disciples' of which there was no other beside him at the moment.
Basically, there were three standard ranks for disciples, outer, inner and core, as the name suggested, each of them would be found either on the outer portion, inner portion and at the core of the sect.
As a special disciple, Edrick was situated right at the edge between the areas for inner and core, that also reflected his status, he had preferential treatment, which was always welcome.
This was especially important as this meant that he already had a high status before Xiao even got there, even with his scarred visage, as the protagonist, the test at the gates would reveal his incredible talent, so Edrick wasn't worried that his target would fail to get in, he was more concerned with how to properly greet him upon arrival, Anoteros's simple presence would certainly shock him down to his bones but would perhaps also embolden him.
He pulled out the stolen sword out of his baggage, as expected, he had failed to understand what was supposedly so great about this weapon, designed with two edges, a straight blade and a guard, it didn't appear exceptionally impressive, furthermore, it was too small for Edrick's hand.
What mattered with it for now, was that Xiao would definitely be tempted to get it back in some way.
Anoteros couldn't help but chuckle as he imagined a variety of scenarios, it was entertaining, but that was not for now, for all he knew, Xiao might have more events to get through on the way and would take a while to arrive, after all, the wisps of intel did not show everything concerning the scenario.
On this note, he watched Linmin pace around, looking all nervous as he was assessing the amount of cleaning that would be needed to bring this place up to standards, which were rather high as the servant was a bit of a maniac when it came to keeping his lord's living spaces squeaky clean.
Even muttering to himself that he would have to inform himself on the best cleaning products and tools available in the area, worrying about whether or not the floorboards here could be dealt with in the same manner as he used to due to the wood not being the same.
It was pretty entertaining to watch.
As for Fanqia, she was a bit more relaxed, exploring this new residence excitedly.
Gushing over the size of this place compared to their old residence, as not only was it much wider, featuring many more rooms, that were all larger than any they were used to, but there were also two additional floors above the ground floor and even a basement area.
Listening to Fanqia as she moved around on the floor above, Edrick thought to himself that he ought to have this place sound-proofed and better insulated eventually, well, that would have to come later, his lovely wives were probably more-so thinking about decorating and adding furnitures to the derisory amount that there currently was.
Anoteros himself wasn't an expert at interior designing, he focused more on practical aspects.
Finding himself a stool, as the chairs were too small, he opened up his system to take a look at the missions it was offering him now that the environment was entirely different, no longer the lord of a town suffering from extreme poverty, although still greater in status than most, the dynamic was no longer the same.
And it was reflected in missions, nearly all had been written and shown in a rather simplistic fashion, only the one concerning Linmin's domination had been different, being written in gold instead.
Now, before his eyes, there were many missions demonstrating a higher value by just how they were presented, if the missions before had been the lowest of the bunch due to Edrick literally having the authority of life and death over his people, now, nearly zero were so barebone.
Written in the colour of bronze, silver, gold, or surrounded by casings that would sometimes feature precious gems and the like, clearly, the average mission the Depraved Cultivation System was offering now had several times more worth than before.
Indeed, it had seemed a little strange that something having the word 'cultivation' in it, didn't actually feature anything relating to the practice, but it made sense, the town had simply not been capable of providing big enough challenges or oddities for the system to hand out anything precious, only his domination of a supposed-heroine and a foppoof had been worth especially interesting rewards.
Although definitely tempting to go for the ones with the greater rewards, Anoteros knew to restrain himself for the time being, he first had to establish a better foothold within the sect, as although his identity as an Elt was valuable to them, if he instantly began unleashing his depravity upon the other disciples or people of Oie, they most certainly would send him on his way anyways.
However, if he had a better presence within the Myriad-Arm Sect and people willing to publicly invest in him, then they would find it much harder to boot him out even if he committed atrocities, in fact, the anguish that would cause would be exceptional.
And obviously, he now had the opportunity to get a hold of this world's exceptional powers for himself too, which he was very much looking forward to.
Still, he carefully skimmed through the lower-ranked missions, not all acts of depravity were punishable by law after all, some would just make people squirm a little, it was just indicative of some unconventional interests but not much.
'Mmh, I should tour the sect and city' having not forgotten that the system was dynamic, more missions would certainly arise if he got to know the nook and crannies of Oie.
Even though the most notorious serial killer in his former world, Edrick had been prone to many, many other pastimes that had just flown under the radar of people due to his massive kill counts and years of evading authorities.
In a place with an actual economy, he was bound to find many different places, things like bars and casinos certainly had ties with depravity.
