"We haven't spoken about that yet…"
Yin narrowed her eyes in suspicion but didn't push the matter, as far as she knew, the one she believed to be her boyfriend of sorts, Edrick Lucien Anoteros as he called himself, or Zixuan Elt, as he was supposed to be named, was engaged in a relationship with two other women already, and from the looks of things, it seemed to be a budding harem.
Such things weren't too common, at least not in such a form, clan patriarch would rarely only roll in the hay with their actual wife, but they would typically only be married to a single woman still, the others would be mistresses or servants, unofficial and whose children may or may not be acknowledged.
Yin wouldn't call getting into some man's harem to be a great idea or goal in life, but she couldn't make any judgement as she had yet to meet Edrick or any of his wives, one needed to approach situations with a certain amount of care and skepticism.
Before openly opposing the idea of Hui doing anything with this man, she would need to gather a bit of information, and she still needed to determine who was the vile beast that had harmed her as well, Yin felt like the librarian had quite a lot of problems these days.
"I see, do be careful though, you know how hard it is for a woman to get married when she isn't a vir-"
"Ah, I was wondering where you had gone to" a dark shadow was cast on the inner disciples as a large silhouette showed up behind Hui.
"Si- Edrick!" Hui stopped herself from calling him 'Sir', knowing that it would be questionable behaviour for her friends to call the one they believed she was dating so formally.
"My friends were very curious about you" she continued, presenting them one by one to him.
Anoteros felt like narrowing his eyes like a fox and smile, but kept on the good impressions as his gaze landed on Yin, if he remembered correctly, she was the one that had been behind the door that one time, she was also one of the top inner disciples and was said to have a pretty clear shot toward making it into the core disciples.
A tall, blonde tomboy that seemed rather protective of her friends… He held back on the dark thoughts and greeted Hui's friends one by one, the librarian certainly looked rather out of place here, being the only outer disciple and clearly not nearly as extroverted, it seemed more likely that they had been the ones to invite her into the group rather than the opposite.
Frankly, Hui had some pretty good friends, which was a wonder why she kept herself locked inside the library most of the time.
Whilst Edrick stealthily analysed each of the girls, Yin was analysing him, she had to admit that he looked an awful lot larger up-close, she could tell that he probably hadn't started cultivating just yet, but couldn't help but feel somewhat subdued in his presence.
It was no wonder that Hui would fall in his arms, that guy just had an aura of dominance hovering around him, he knew his own cards and how to play them perfectly, it was hard to meet someone so freakishly confident that you could just tell at a glance.
"Hey you two, how did your date yesterday go anyways?"
"It was splendid! We went to that really fancy restaurant and ate the heads of sheeps in a soup!" exclaimed Hui, her friends not bearing the same tastes in terms of food as her.
"W-What? It's delicious, right?"
"It is indeed, scrumptious" Edrick backed her up, gently placing his hand on her shoulder.
"By the way, Hui, I was wondering if you would have time for us to go into town again today?"
"I do!"
At the prospect of another date, Hui beamed up and quickly bid her goodbyes to her friend before leaving with Anoteros.
"I have never seen her so happy before"
"She's been especially gloomy since her mother died, maybe this sort of affection is what she needed to feel better"
"Still… That long and wide? And the size difference between them… I don't know whether to think that it's adorable or weird"
"That Edrick looks jacked though, did you say that he was an Elt? I thought they were all scrawny and slimy"
"I do hope he'll actually marry her though, she seems completely head over heels from him…"
The young women kept discussing amongst themselves whilst Yin remained deep in thought, seeing how joyous Hui was in his presence, it was hard for her to imagine that he could be responsible for the bruises from last time…
'Mmh… If it's not Anoteros, then should I just tell him about the bruises I saw? He seems to often be around Hui, he'll be able to keep an eye on her…' to best get an idea of what sort of person he was in private, she really ought to ask his wives, or at least, see them as she had only gotten rough descriptions from Shu after another visit.
The rat of the sect's inner disciples seemed to better remember the curves of one's backside however, but he was a skilled information gathered, although he had not found any good clues as to her the first demand she made of him, he had managed to learn about the three new special disciples.
Although Shu hadn't wanted to spit it out, claiming that he had gathered this intel on behalf of the core disciples, his flimsy principles that made no sense were always quickly dispelled with some threats of physical violence, it was a wonder why he still tried to slither around with Yin when it always ended up the same way.
It was almost like he enjoyed getting beaten up by her.
'Ew… I hope not' the blonde suddenly felt filthy and she looked to the side, at the figure of Edrick and Hui, the latter wrapped around the former's arm lovingly.
"I wonder if he'll be a part of this year's tournament" one of the girls wondered, then Yin finally put her thoughts aside and joined the conversation.
"Depends, he's an Elt and a special disciple, so who knows how much progress he'll have made by then, but since he just got here, it is likely that he will just skip on it… Not like there is anything to miss" she said with a sigh.
"What are the rewards this time?"
"Garbage, like usual, the real good stuff is to be won in the ascension tournaments and those with other sects" added Yin, indeed, the only event that was left for this year was just the Myriad-Arm Sects own tournament in which only the recent additions to the sect would partake.
It was more so a way for outer disciples to show what they could do in hope of catching the interest of an elder, for inner disciples and above, such things were to take place at other events, which had all already taken place earlier this year.
And considering that Edrick should already have the attention of at least a few elders, it was only natural to assume that he wouldn't bother with it.
Yes, it was only logical.
