Lifelong Mate

Unlike what her father had said when Muxing was still a little gal, following a stranger back to his house did not result in instantaneous and abject atrocities, but the girl had already understood that the tall man wasn't as strange as he first appeared, since he actually took her through the gates of the local sect!

Although she wasn't quite from around here, she had heard of the Myriad-Arms Sect, and it was one with a great reputation on top of being known to have produced righteous cultivators over the years, so seeing how easily Anoteros was able to just waltz through the gates with a stranger carrying a child in tow, not even being asked a single question by the person present, it seemed obvious that he not only was a member of the sect, but also a pretty high-ranking one.

Probably not an elder since he seemed very youthful, so Muxing guessed something of the order of a core disciple, or maybe an inner disciple with great talent and reputation.

From there, they soon separated from the busy walkways of the sect and headed to an area that was seemingly devoid of people, they passed by luxurious residences surrounded by much vegetation, but those appeared to be vacant, they continued walking for a while longer until they arrived at what was undeniably the greatest piece of architecture they had encountered thus far, less impressive than the main building which towered over the sect and city like a colossus, but definitely prettier and more pleasing to the eye overall.

Surrounded by bountiful nature, flowers and trees, it simultaneously emitted a noble feeling of luxury, but also perfectly melded into the environment without encroaching upon nature, obviously, considering her line of work, Muxing was very impressed and pleased to see that.

'I don't think I have ever heard of core disciples being treated that lavishly… This place looks huge!' starting to doubt her previous assessments, she was ushered into the household, quickly finding out that the interior was just as great as the exterior.

"So far, you are only the second maid of this residence, my second wife will show you the ropes, and if you need anything, just ask Jingyi, she's the white haired girl dressed in white, you can't miss her" Edrick casually mentioned as he beckoned Muxing to keep following him.

Although he called her a maid, Anoteros did not take Muxing to the same area where Jingyi's room was located, and instead took her to another nearby wing that looked mostly the same, but was equipped with rooms that were clearly meant to aid in taking care of babies and children in general, a completely different vibe compared to the rest of the residence, like a pocket of different air.

The girl wasn't sure what to think about the sheer size of this particular place and the number of rooms.

'Is he planning on having a hundred children or something? He did talk about a second wife just now, so he probably has more than that…' since witnessing the residence from up-close and hearing about multiple wives, she naturally assumed that Anoteros was in fact not just a valued disciple, but an actual noble, something she had not thought about previously, as his name sounded foreign.

"Here is your room" his deep voice shook Muxing out of her reveries.

The room itself was a near carbon copy of Jingyi's.

Edrick encouraged her to get in before glancing down at the recently born baby, who was impressively silent for a newborn, much different from the ever-crying hellspawns conjured up by humans.

He knew the reason why, it was due to its sasquatch blood being so dominant that it was basically pure-blooded, and as such, it already had the instinct of staying out of sight, out of ears, out of mind- Already trying to remain unseen and undetected by others.

Though it was not to say that it had no features coming from its mother at all.

"The boy has the same eyes as you" he commented with a slight smile, it looked warm, but he really was just satisfied that it didn't have his eyes, the deep, dark purple was way too conspicuous.

"Oh… He does indeed"

"Did you pick a name?" he asked, pointing with his hand for her to sit down on the bed.

"No, not yet…" truthfully, she didn't know if she should even give this child a name at all.

One thing this room had more than the regular maid room was the crib near the bed, within which she placed the sasquatch baby.

The newborn remained perfectly silent and barely even moved at all once it was set down, really, the only times noise or movement would come from the baby were when it needed its mother for something.

But for now, the child merely closed both eyes and fell asleep quickly.

Edrick sat down beside Muxing, the mattress caving in slightly under his weight.

"Why don't you tell me about yourself?" he asked a question the girl did not mind answering, so she quickly revealed a rather mundane background, born into a family that was somewhat well-off in a fairly nice city, nothing as grand as Oie or the likes, but still a good place.

But Muxing was not content with living her whole life in the city and doing the same things as her peers, which would be to basically get married as soon as she was of marriageable age, and just live life slowly.

Her real calling was experimentation and discovery, specifically in the realm of nature and wildlife, she had been doing that with mild success for a few years before hearing about a certain sasquatch with peculiar habits, though, to her defence, she had not been informed that said peculiar habits included murderous tendencies until she arrived right in front of the forest in question.

Since the trip was subsidised by the foundation she worked for, Muxing couldn't really just turn around and go back upon learning that, ending up in her getting hit over the head by a rock, discovering a truth about herself concerning beasts and mating, and being impregnated by a creature that should not be capable procreating with a human.

Of course, the latter details she preferred to leave out.

Instead, she just said that she eventually woke up after getting hit on the head, got lost for a while, and that was it, that she had just been unknowingly pregnant this entire time, which only made Anoteros smile- There was something a bit… Feral about that smile, which Muxing quite liked.

"Listen, Muxing… I won't drag this out for too long" he extended his hand, and it suddenly morphed into the hand of a white-furred sasquatch before slowly turning completely black.

"This child is mine, you are mine too now, and your main job as a maid will be to take charge of the nursery wing and carry children from me whenever I want to, understood?"

"..." Muxing had her jaw hung open, unable to take her eyes off the bestial hand that had just appeared there.

Anoteros propped her chin up using that very hand.

"Do you understand?"

"Y-Yes…"

"Good, I'll pay a visit tonight, be ready"

And on that note, his hand transformed back before he stood up and left the room.

The girl's face formed a wry smile as she looked at the sleeping baby.

"So… It's not over?" she was a bit startled, but it was not fear that made her legs tremble, it was sheer excitement.

The beast had not given up on her.
