CHAPTER 9

Xavian stormed toward Poppy.

He came to a halt only a few inches away.

Poppy didn't move, rather worried instead of intimidated. She shoved her hand into her bag, taking out a handkerchief and reaching up to wipe off his bloody nose, but he slapped her hand away.

"What are you doing here?" he barked. "Didn't I ask you to leave? Why did you come back?"

He was breathing heavily as if he could collapse at the very next moment.

"I couldn't leave," Poppy said.

Xavian slammed his hand against the door, shutting it closed. His head was throbbing in a way it had never done before. He didn't know why his nose was bleeding, but his head felt like it could blow to pieces.

There were so many things happening to him at once—his wolf reacting to her, the bond sparking between them, his migraine growing much worse than it's ever done before—and he felt like he was losing his mind.
