The word rang in Poppy's ear like an unpleasant sound, and she raised her gaze to find Xavian staring at her as if he wanted to make sure she heard him.
"She's no one, Vira. Just a worker around."
She watched the movement of his lips as he said those words and averted her gaze. The brunette chuckled softly and hopped off the desk, taking a seat on Xavian's lap, her arms coming around his neck.
"Can she leave now? I thought she was someone important."
Xavian glanced at Poppy. "You may go. Come back in ten minutes."
Poppy didn't wait around, she just turned immediately and left the office, slamming the door shut as she went.
A second was all it took, and Xavian shoved the brunette off him. "Fun's over, Vira."
