Jiho felt his insides churn, if you fell for the boy who saved you, that means, you fell for him.
But is he supposed to celebrate the fact you still remember him or frown to the fact that Joon has completely taken his place in your life?
The main question here is, why do you think Gong Joon is your savior? He wanted to ask but held himself back.
Suddenly, Jiho reached for the necklace around your neck, subtly trailing his fingers on the ring.
"It's beautiful, right?" You asked, closely studying his facial expression.
He nods, lifting his gaze to meet yours, "It is."
"Jiho, let's get you treated first." You said.
He nodded his consent and started the car, driving to a nearby clinic where he got his wounds treated and his body thoroughly examined.
When it was done, you decided to drive instead, so he can rest.
"You must be exhausted." You shoot him a glance.
"I don't know, I can't feel it, remember?" He replied.
Hesitantly and not without trepidation, you hold Jiho's soft hand. He looks up at you with a grateful smile, "Thank you. I definitely feel exhausted now." He mumbled, closing his eyes.
A few minutes later, Jiho was already fast asleep.
You reached the penthouse, drove into the garage and parked. Jiho is still sleeping and he's tightly holding onto your hand.
You decide to stay for a while, adjusted your chair and reclined into the seat, now watching him sleep.
Your eyes slowly dart between his thick brows, long curly lashes, his pointed nose, pink lips - man he's so handsome.
Your heart starts beating faster as you remember the kiss you shared with Jiho. The way his warm lips captured yours, his hand wrapped around your waist. The confidence and calmness he exuded - he was exceptionally good at acting.
Acting! You snapped back to your senses, sharply sitting up, what are you even thinking, Ari? This relationship is not real, you can't think like this. But… You rest your head on the seat as you once again admire Jiho's beauty, I am allowed to commend him for his bravery. I used to think Jiho was rude and distant but he's actually softhearted. He is like a hero, just like Joon was to me.
Thinking of Joon made your heart sink. Your relationship with him at first was very beautiful and Joon treated you so lovingly but then, a month after your engagement to him, he started acting different, became rude, cared less about you and eventually, he started sleeping with different women. But truth be told, the fact that you tried to take your life because of Joon's betrayal only proves how much you truly loved him, even more than your own life.
Lost in thoughts, you drifted off into a deep slumber.
AT MOON BAY COMPANY.
After receiving a hard slap from Ari, Joon left the company and only returned in the evening.
Suit flying, he entered his office like a storm and slammed the door behind him with a frustrated growl, "Ar… " before he could finish his sentence, he found himself lifting his head only to find an unfamiliar woman standing before him, "Ah!!!" He shrieked like a frightened teenager and scrambled away reflexively. "Who are you!?" He demanded an answer from her.
"Hello." The lady bowed, unfazed by his reaction upon seeing her, "My name is Moon Yuna, I am your secretary."
"My …My what?" Joon looked flabbergasted, "Who asked that idiot to hire me a woman? Huh? Men can't handle my work and of all people he had to bring me a woman!"
"Whatever you are saying right now is against the law, I can say it's almost considered a sexual harassment using such terms. Just because I am a woman, it doesn't mean I am weak." Yuna said confidently whilst holding Joon's icy gaze, "You can trust me instead, and when I mess up, then you can question my abilities." She added.
Her words somehow calmed Joon down, he sighed, walking to his table and picked up her file on his desk. He flipped the cover, reads the first page, glanced at her and kept going through it. Yuna remained patient and quietly waited for him to finish. When he was done, he tossed the file on his desk, leaning against it as he faces her.
His eyes leer slowly over her body - making Yuna a bit uncomfortable. She is in a black knee-length fitted dress with a blue blazer on top. Her red curly hair is let down, contrasting beautifully to her olive skin.
"You are confident. But do you really think your confidence makes you a Moon Bay material?" Joon interrogated.
Yuna hated how he referred to her as a 'material' but rich people have no filter when it comes to their words anyway. She flicked her hazel eyes on his, red lips curving into a soft practiced smile, "I am a very committed, passionate and determined person. As an orphan, I learned how to take care of myself and my honesty is one of the reasons why I have made it this far. I believe I can handle whatever hurdle you send me way."
"Hm." His brows lifts - clearly impressed. He cleared his throat, "I am not an easy man to work with. Some people even call me the devil CEO because of how harsh I am. Six of my secretaries resigned in just three months, if you can stay here for a month, only then will I permanently hire you. Till then, consider this an evaluatory month. Deal?" He extended his hand.
Without any hesitation, Yuna inched closer, firmly taking Joon's hand. "Accepted." She smiled.
Now that she is up close, Joon could finally have a better look at her face. She has a spattering of freckles under her eyes and even over her nose. It is such a rare feature for a Korean, she must be a half caste.
He nods, releasing her hand. "Good. I come to work at seven so you make sure you are here an hour before me. That is your first test. Now leave my office." He commanded, walking back to his chair.
Yuna gave him a nod and majestically headed for the door. Joon glanced back, watching her retreating figure. She must be something different, we will have to see. He shrugged.
As soon as Yuna closed Joon's office door, she gave a sigh of relief, throwing celebratory punches in the air as she holds down her excitement. Waking up early is not an issue for someone who wakes up five every day. Humming her favorite song, she takes the elevator and leaves the company.

THE NEXT MORNING
Jiho opened his eyes and the first thing he took stock of is your puffy face.
Why didn't she wake me up? He wondered, slowly sitting erectly. "She must be uncomfortable." He pitied you and as he tried to leave, that is when he realized you are still holding him. He sighed, leaning his head on his chair as he watch you sleep, she is cute, why didn't she just leave or wake me up?
Your hair fell on your face. Jiho thought of helping and so, lifted his hand and, slowly tucked your hair behind your ear. His warm touch made you open your eyes and when you finally realized he is actually touching you in real life, you sharply sat up, sheepishly fixing your hair.
He also retracts his hand, scratching the back of his head.
"Good morning." You plucked up the courage to speak first.
"Morning." He responded awkwardly.
You both fall silent, each waiting for the other to speak.
"I …I think we should um go and prepare for the office, we don't want to be late." You suggested, glancing at your wrist watch.
"Yes, you are right." He ejaculated, then instantly softened his tone, "We should do that."
"Okay. We should." You slip out of the car, briskly rushing off to your bedroom.
Jiho gets out of the car, closed the door but stayed behind. He rubbed his temple - clearly embarrassed.
You both got dressed, was running too late to have breakfast and quickly drove to the company.
You are one minute from being late but both managed to report to the chairman's office on time.
Joon was already there, seated on the couch while Gong Hangmo was sitting on the black leather sofa, legs crossed.
"Good morning, chairman." You both greeted him as you make your way further into the room and settled down across Joon.
Joon shot you a side eye. You couldn't care any less.
"I believe you are all here, we shall begin." Gong Hangmo announced.
"Sorry chairman but there's one more person left, my partner." Joon notified, glancing at the luxurious watch around his wrist, "I believe it must be the traffic that is …"
"Sorry I am late." A familiar voice echoed as the door opens and to your greatest surprise, Yoon Hana in a matching cream suit and skirt walks into the room. She gives the chairman a nod as she settles down beside Joon.
You can feel the tension thickening in the air as Jiho radiates a familiar steam. His bloodshot gaze is fixed on her.
Hana could feel Jiho's intense stare but pretended not to see and faces Gong Hangmo instead. "Forgive me for coming late uncle, I mean, chairman. I was stuck in traffic but here I am now."
"Good." Hangmo smiled, he seems impressed and at the same time smitten with Hana, "Now that all four of you are here, let's begin."
