In the meantime, he also kept an eye out for the recent developments in the city. He was ready to run once again at the first signs of trouble. However, the trouble he was looking for never really arrived.

The guards were silent as they patrolled the city, and no special activity was detected. Even the investigation about the death of the guard seemed to have been silenced for some reason. The rumors about the demons were squelched, and it was definitely business as usual in the city.

He had expected some sort of reaction at least, but instead, the city operated as if nothing had happened at all. It gave him an unsettling feeling. It was as if this whole thing wasn't over.
