Eric gently pulled Wanda close, embracing her. "Why were you in the closet again? If I didn't know you so well, I might've called the authorities to search everywhere for you."

His words were accompanied by a slight smile, hinting at amusement in his expression.

Wanda thought of similar past incidents, but those recollections now seemed like faded memories.

Her gaze dulled and she remained silent.

"What's that on your neck?" she inquired, feigning curiosity as she pointed to the red marks on Eric's skin.

It appeared he had been rather careless lately, neglecting to conceal his indiscretions.

Eric coughed uncomfortably, his throat visibly moving as he swallowed nervously.

"Probably just insect bites," he muttered. "You don't think I've been unfaithful, do you? You know you're the only woman in my life."

"Is that so?" I questioned.

It was the middle of winter. How could there be insects?
