Wright couldn't fly, so the ice pillar was essentially a larger version of an ice spear, except that the lightning enhancement was replaced with wind magic to lighten the weight and increase the flying distance. This time, he planned to fly over the city walls and land directly within the attacking army's formation.
In the northern ranks of the anti-Baratheon forces, countless officers were watching the battlefield, closely tracking the most important target. As Wright, surrounded by magic, departed from the pyramid and flew toward the battle atop his ice pillar, it was clear he intended to join the fight. The army quickly adjusted its formation in response to the dangerous enemy.
All the unengaged forces near the city walls, along with the slave soldiers, began advancing toward Wright. These slave soldiers had no idea who Wright was or how powerful he might be, but their masters had given the order: even if he was a flying man, they would throw a spear at him.
A large number of cavalry began to retreat, putting away their spears and drawing their bows, preparing for battle. The slave soldiers were tasked with holding Wright off, while the cavalry would use their mobility and arrows to wear him down.
As Wright soared over the walls on his ice pillar, the defenders were struck by the exaggerated and wild display. They raised their swords and spears, cheering, "Wright! Wright will win!"
At that moment, a gold-red light flashed across the sky. Those who noticed looked up, shielding their eyes from the sun. Through gaps in the clouds, dozens of gold-red fireballs appeared.
Boom!
The sound of a massive explosion rang out, so loud it echoed throughout all of Meereen. Both the attacking and defending forces fell silent in unison, all eyes turned upward.
On the pyramid, Daenerys, along with Aegon in the ship's cabin and the Golden Company soldiers, all clenched their fists, praying the fireballs wouldn't land in their direction.
Within the ranks, the veteran soldiers of the Golden Company had encountered Wright's attacks before and suffered significant losses. They calculated the landing spots of the fireballs and began retreating on horseback. Only the unaware slave masters and the Dothraki remained in place, waiting to fight Wright.
The battlefield was vast, and Wright's magic couldn't cover it all, so the fireballs aimed for areas near the war elephants.
The first fireball descended, trailing black smoke, crashing into the area where the troops were gathering. Boom! The explosion enveloped the sand and soil in flames, sending it soaring up to five or six stories high. The soldiers at the epicenter were instantly obliterated, and those nearby were shredded by the blast's shockwave, limbs scattering outward. Even the warhorses close by were thrown into a panic.
The ice pillar was losing power and plunged straight into the flames created by the explosion.
"Ha!" A roar echoed from within the flames, and Wright, mounted on a skeletal horse, leaped from the fire, holding his giant sword in one hand. The magical flames clung to him and his mount but caused no harm.
There were few soldiers near the explosion crater, and Wright charged toward the war elephants. Arrows flew toward him from the enemy lines, but with three layers of magical protection and his dragonbone armor, Wright didn't dodge. The skeletal horse remained unfazed by the arrows, and any that managed to lodge into its joints were snapped and broken by the massive strength of the mount.
"Shield and spear formation! Stop him!" Seeing Wright charging, those unable to escape could only fight back.
Riding on the skeletal horse, Wright synced his movements with its gallop, slowly taking a deep breath. As the horse's legs came together and its back arched, Wright unleashed his second dragon roar of the day:
"Fus~~Ro~~Dah~~~~!"
The defenders of Meereen fell silent, and the attacking forces, except for Wright's location, were also quiet. Wright's enormous shout reached even Daenerys, atop the distant pyramid.
The shockwave of the sound expanded forward, pulverizing everything in its path—dirt, soldiers, horses, swords, and armor—were shattered into pieces, all swept forward, carving a three-meter-wide trench that continued to extend as it moved.
"Don't be afraid! Attack! Attack!"
The skeletal horse, Arvak, followed closely behind the shockwave, charging forward. Wright gripped his giant sword with both hands and swung it powerfully to the side. A blood-red crescent-shaped blade of energy shot from the tip of the sword, slicing through the air and cutting a man in luxurious armor in half.
What is an important target? On the battlefield, a person wearing ornate armor is the important target!
Wearing such armor not only boosts morale but also makes commanding easier and can lead to accolades. However, once on the defensive, such individuals are much closer to death, and the phrase "dropping armor and fleeing" is always applicable on the battlefield.
As the shockwave advanced, the red sword energy from Wright's hands continued to surge forward, plowing through everything in its path.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Fireballs continued to rain down, exploding in front of or to the side of Wright. From a distance, the path Wright had taken was marked by a long trench, surrounded by explosions, flying debris, and the cries of soldiers whose severed limbs were scattered. Wright alone had charged into the enemy's ranks, throwing the entire northern line into chaos.
The Dothraki cavalry temporarily pulled away from the fiery battlefield, waiting for all the fireballs to fall before re-entering the fight.
"Arrows are useless against him! What do we do?" a officer shouted, his ears filled with blood. The fireball hadn't killed him, but his ears were deafened by the explosion.
"Keep shooting! Every shot will drain his magic!" another officer shouted, but before he could finish, a red light flew by, and the head of his comrade disappeared.
"Shoot! Shoot!" He could no longer care about anything else and continued directing his soldiers to attack Wright.
"Fus~~Ro~~Dah~~~~!"
Another roar from Wright, this time aimed at the war elephants.
The elephants' eyes were covered, and their ears blocked, relying solely on the knights riding them to control them with ropes. The battlefield noise didn't affect them, but as Wright's dragon roar approached, the knights quickly steered the elephants away.
With the path cleared by the dragon roar, Wright easily reached the area with the elephants. The shockwave of the roar continued to advance, and the skeletal horse leaped over the trench toward one large elephant. Wright raised his giant sword and made a diagonal slash. The blood-red sword energy cut through the elephant's neck, and its two tusked head instantly fell to the ground.
Wright had now moved far from Meereen, and the shouts of the defenders could no longer be heard. The Tattered Prince instructed the defenders to beat their drums to cheer on Wright.
Without the overwhelming roar of Wright's dragon shout, soldiers surrounding him rushed forward with spears.
Killing these spear-wielding soldiers would be a waste of energy. Wright ignored them, extending his left hand and casting a Mage's Hand spell to grab the seat on the back of another elephant and pull himself up. A dozen spears immediately stabbed into Arvak's body, lodging in its bones and immobilizing it.
On the elephant's back, several knights drew their longswords and swung at Wright. Wright didn't dodge or flinch. He raised his hand, aimed at the head of another elephant, and cast an explosive fireball. With a loud pop, the elephant's body was blown apart, blood splattering everywhere.
The knights' swords clanged against Wright's body but caused no harm. Instead, the flames from Wright's fire cloak ignited, burning them with golden magical fire. Screaming, the knights fell from the elephant's back, turning into charred piles within seconds.
ANG~~~
A sharp, high-pitched animal's roar echoed through the sky, followed by a second and third. Upon hearing it, Wright grinned and drove his sword down into the elephant's neck. "Finally, they've appeared!" he said, smiling in excitement.
