"Get rid of it! Burn it all! This room belongs to me now!"
Failing to locate her, anything associated with Kate had to be eliminated. The maid carrying the luggage encountered Melanie, who had just arrived home. She immediately recognized the suitcase as Kate's.
Several days had passed without any word from her. Even Melanie, who had never shown much concern for Kate, felt a growing discomfort in the pit of her stomach.
She reached out and stopped the servant.
"Put those things down, don't bother with them."
Leona's constant outbursts at home no longer seemed to affect her. The same phrases were repeated endlessly.
Rather than immediately consoling Leona, she examined the belongings Kate had left behind.
She recalled that Kate had come to collect her possessions once, so she should have taken everything with her by now.
What else could possibly remain?
Intrigued, she opened the box and was stunned by its contents.
