My chest tightened as I stood beneath the harsh lights, struggling to maintain my composure. The announcer's voice reverberated through the room, and a low buzz of chatter filled the air as the auction commenced.

"Let's begin the bidding for Dorothy at one grand!"

Without hesitation, a voice from the audience called out, "One thousand!"

I tensed up. It was unsettling to hear people placing bids on me as if I were a mere commodity.

"Five hundred for Bianca!" the announcer continued, looking towards Blake, who stood next to me in his disguise.

"Chlyrus, make your bid now," Daniel instructed through my earpiece, his tone calm but authoritative. "We need Gregor's attention on Blake, not Daphne."

Chlyrus responded with a playful lilt, "Alright, ten grand for Dorothy!"

The crowd gasped in surprise. I fought to maintain my composure as my stomach churned. The bright lights were blinding, but I could sense every eye upon me.
