Jack's POV
The familiar scent of the training grounds were a second skin to me. it smelled like sweat and Marie's red velvet cake.
Funny how growing up, this place used to be this larger than life gigantic arena where father and son bonded over fist and bad Dad jokes...now, it just looked like a regular run of the mill field.
I kept one eye on Silo's footwork, the other instinctively tracked her. Kai. Sitting on the sidelines, sunlight catching the gold in her hair.
She looked out of place in this blasted place like a quiet anchor in the controlled chaos.
I watched her watch me… it was fast becoming my favorite game.
Jarvis stood like a carved stone, until Marie approached then his expression changed.
