Asuriel had made egg rice with some leftover rice in the fridge, and the two ate together. It was a simple, cozy dish easy on the stomach and was one of her comfort foods.
After finishing their light meal, Lysander and Asuriel sat on her apartment's covered balcony, watching the rain fall over the city.
Lysander's warm hazel gaze shifted from the cityscape and landed on Asuriel's sullen face from the corner of his eye.
He finally spoke the words hanging in the air since he arrived, "You're not telling me something."
Asuriel froze, her hands gripping her glass of water tightly. Despite her obvious reaction, she denied it. "There's nothing to tell."
"Bullshit."
Lysander turned to face her fully, imploring her to be honest with him. Asuriel lowered her eyes and looked away, unable to answer him immediately.
