Chapter 41: The Reactions

[3rd POV]

Watching as Morgan marched off, disappearing from the room, the others sat in silence, contemplating what they had just heard, what they had just seen, and what this meant for the future of the Underworld.

Should Morgan win, the Phenex family, one of the top 5 strongest families in the entire underworld, would disappear, being absorbed into the Zagan family. Morgan would now have access to their practically infinite resources, the wealth that outclassed every other house in the underworld besides MAYBE the Bael family.

She would have their knowledge, their people, their land. She would catapult from a minor family to one of the most powerful in the Underworld, on the same level as the likes of the Sitri family.

It was huge, politically speaking at least. It also meant that if she managed to crush Rainel, she was a confirmed Ultimate Class being at the least, with the man also being in that range of power. He wasn't a weak ultimate class being either, but a proper one with experience during the Civil War and the other Wars back in the day.

He had grown arrogant, sure, but he was still the Lord of one of the most powerful families. And he was still a Phenex, so actually killing him would be far from easy, even for someone like Morgan who likely had all sorts of secrets she could use to her advantage.

"Are we sure that it's okay for this to happen?" Sirzechs asked his fellow Satans, wanting to make sure they were okay with this. Rainel was a prick, and a horrible person, but he was also the head of one of the most powerful families in the underworld, and the provider of the best healing remedy in the underworld.

"It is. If she wins, then we'll continue to get the Phoenix Tears, and perhaps even more than before. And if she loses, then the Zagan library might finally be able to be accessed by more than just a Zagan" Ajuka Beelzebub said. He was the other Super Class devil that was a Satan, and was also the smartest man in the Underworld, if not the world.

Serafall frowned "Yeah it's okay, because Mo-Chan will kick his ass! He has no chance in hell of beating her! And once he's gone, maybe Mo-Chan will bring about some much needed change" Serafall replied, inwardly enraged at the idea of her Morgan being harmed by Rainel.

The other three looked at her with raised eyebrows, the confidence being a bit surprising, as she did talk about Morgan a lot, but she never commented on her power besides that she was strong.

"Let's hope she does. Because I don't even want to think about what Rainel will do with the Zagan's knowledge" Sirzechs said simply, inwardly disgusted with the man, but he could not do anything about it.

With Rias, Sona, and their peerages, they all watched in silence as she had walked off, the rage that was exuding from her scared them (and in Akeno's case, made her scared in a rather...interesting way).

"...I hate the Phenex's even more than before" Rias muttered with a scowl, hatred on her face as Sona nodded slowly.

"I don't say that lightly but I do agree" Sona said, her lips forming into a frown as she remembered what the woman that had taught her, had spoken of. The fact that Rainel Phenex had done that to her mother and father was horrible, even by Devil standards.

"She's going to slaughter that man, isn't she?" Kira said out loud, as they nodded.

"Undoubtebly" Sona said, knowing that there was no chance that Morgan would let the man live, he would die in 5 days, that much was certain. It just mattered how difficult that would end up being.

With Grayfia, who had silently watched on the side, she frowned deeply at the entire interaction, not liking the way her heart clenched at the look on Morgan's face. The way her teeth grit upon the taunts that Morgan was forced to go under, and the way everyone whispered about her afterwards.

Sirzechs noticed this, and glanced at the Queen of his peerage with narrowed eyes, noticing the way that Grayfia was reacting to what Morgan had just done. It was out of character for his Queen to do something like that, as she was usually serious and barely showed emotion.

Meaning that something Morgan had done, had changed Grayfia somehow. And a change in her was not something he was expecting, as he decided that he would get to the bottom of this specific change, by speaking with both Grayfia and Morgan if he had to.

With Venelana, she had listened to the words of Morgan in horror, as understanding of what her daughter likely would have been forced to endure had she actually married Riser Phenex. And with Rainel being his father, who knows what his father would have been able to do to her as well.

She knew that they were scum, but not to the level of something like this. And especially not to the level of bragging about it in front of devil nobility as if it was nothing, as if the assault of the woman didn't matter to them.

Venelana was absolutist rooting for Morgan now, and hoped she made it hurt especially bad.

Her husband on the other hand, was pale faced, as he realized what this meant for his public image, and the feel that he wanted with the Phenex family. The reveal of Rainel had done had effectively ruined any chance of the marriage, and a LARGE amount of the Phenex family's public image.

He could already see the side effects this would bring upon him and his family. And none of them looked good.

Other devils at the party had also been contemplating what this would mean for the future of the devil race as a whole. Of what the potential death of the Phenex lord and the absorption of the Phenex clan as a whole would mean. A majority of the older devils disliked the idea immensely, not only because of the trade that they underwent with the old Phenex, but also because of him being a man.

Several calls were already being made to Lord Phenex regarding aid they would be willing to give him. Aid in the battle, such as stronger peerage members, weapons, anything he could use to defeat Morgan and retain his Lordship.

None of them knew that Morgan was already at work getting new peerage members, speaking with key individuals, giving them offers that they simply couldn't refuse, offers that would give them what they want more than anything, and in most of their cases, what they need more than anything.

With every new peerage member that joined her, she would get a new Fanon Maker usage, and a new sacred gear added to her already immense arsenal. And each and every one of these new members were powerful, amongst the most powerful in her peerage for some of them, being Ultimate Class beings, and even beyond.

But no one even knew this, for she worked in secret, while Rainel Phenex openly bragged about who he recruited. Most of them being Ultimate class fighters from other clans that owed him a great debt, even his own son Ruval, another Ultimate Class devil. More and more names were released, such as Bedeze Abbadon, ranked third in Rating Games,

His entire peerage was built up of world class fighters, the best of the best in the Underworld. The best strategists, the best swordsmen, the best in general. Even Lords of other families joined in, combat veterans with immense skill and experience that had been born from War. Proper fighters joined his ranks, with far more experience than even Morgan.

Sadly for them, she wasn't idle.

Using a form of magic that she had found in her books, one that would allow her to achieve the best training in the shortest amount of time. The "Time Dilation" spell that would slow time, 1 day was similar to one week in time for her while she was training, giving her and her peerage a total of 5 weeks to train with one another, getting used to the new additions, as well as working out who would actually take part in the game itself.

Asia was out, Zekka was out, Raynare was out, Valerie was out, all for very very obvious reasons. None of them were strong enough to keep up with the rest of them, or simply had better options in the same area, in the case of Zekka. With both Lint and Jeanne being exact counters to the devils that they would be fighting, especially Lint. But, Rainel knew about her, so Jeanne would be the hidden weapon for this sort of thing.

She made deals with others in order to ensure that she could actually have all of her peerage members, deals that would all be revealed in due time.

For now, all the devils of the Underworld could do is wait and watch.

Five days later, Morgan was sitting in her room, looking over her peerage, her 5 new members she had gained over the days standing alongside the rest of her peerage, as she remembered the new abilities she had gotten from the 5 uses.

[Lupus Umbra | Sacred Gear - Shadow Energy: Lupus Umbra is a Sacred Gear that has only had a couple of hosts, as very few people have the strength of mind and will to wield it. As such, very little is known about Lupus Umbra, other than the fact that the host can control Eris' shadow energy. These shadows are one of the most dangerous substances the world has ever seen. They are poisonous to Angels, Fallen Angels, and all manner of Celestial Beings, much like how light is poisonous to Devils. These shadows actually have the capability to kill God if the host is dedicated and trains enough. The host can use the shadows for a variety of purposes. The most simple is a blast of darkness, or perhaps a beam. The only limit is the host's imagination. Takeo has created several techniques that harness Eris' shadows. Two such examples are the Shadow Line that shoots a beam of dark energy at the target and latches onto them, like a grappling hook, and the Shadow Moon, which is a single crescent shaped wave of dark energy that cuts through it's target.Sage Arts/Senjutsu: Another use of Lupus Umbra is the ability to harness Eris' Sage Arts/Senjutsu abilities. Since Eris used to be a simple Wolf Yokai, she had the ability to use the Sage Arts. As the host of Lupus Umbra, the wielder will also gain the use of Eris' Sage Arts.Blade Absorbtion: Along with these abilities is power to absorb bladed weapons into the Sacred Gear for later use. One such example is the Holy Eraser that Kiba lent Takeo when they stormed the church to save Asia. During the training for the Rating Game, Kiba, with the help of Takeo's creative mind, even created a virtual arsenal of swords for Takeo to absorb, each with its own effect. [Procellarum Phantom | Sacred Gear - Procellarum Phantom strengthens the power and capabilities of the user's legs at least ten times, granting them an increase in combat performance such as greatly enhanced speed and immensely powerful kicks. It can also leave behind afterimages of the user to confuse their opponents. It later gained time-based powers, making time move slower from her perspective, allowing the user to perceive her opponents in slow motion to avoid their attacks and possibly move much faster than a Knight of great calliber.

[Extinction Gigante | Sacred Gear - Extinction Gigante allows the user to create spikes from their own body, starting small and growing to a full size as time passes. These spikes are sharp and highly destructive, able to tear through concrete and steel with ease due to their basis being dragon bone and keratin. When the spikes are destroyed, the next one that would grow in it's place is stronger and more durable than the previous spike. The user is capable of producing them from any part of their body, and can fire them off for ranged attacks. As the spikes are in a state of constant regeneration, the user is also capable of healing minor wounds. As the Nemesis Dragons were a species that hunted and ate other dragons, Extinction Gigante allows it's user to consume and digest dragon flesh or other beings of higher strength, amalgamating their power and energy; this rapidly increases the speed of spike generation and regeneration, and based on what was consumed, can attach additional traits to the Sacred Gear. [Celestial Booster | Sacred Gear - Celestial Booster allows for the user to negate all physical limitations such as pain, exhaustion, etc, and greatly boosts the users own personal capabilities tenfold. The user will be much more faster, stronger and can react quicker then they were before]

[Twin Triaina | Sacred Gear - The Twin Triaina is a two-pronged trident that is capable of killing Gods and Buddhas. It can also extend, retract, and morph its shape according to the wielder's will. It has shown to be capable of shielding the wielder against fatal attacks, and split powerful energy blasts with a single slash. As a High-tier Longinus, it has the potential to destroy the world. It is essentially the opposite to the True Longinus, and is the third most powerful longinus, but has the potential to grow beyond that. Each of these sacred gears were huge boons in their own ways, with Twin Triaina and Celestial Booster proving to be the best of them all. She could see the usage of Extinction Gigante, as her poison now coated the spikes fired, as well as various other elements combining to make quite the powerful attacks.

Each of them were going to be important for the future. And from what Morgan could tell after the training she had undergone, Twin Triaina was by far the best of them all due to its ability to massively boost the power of her demonic energy. The sort of boost that would allow her to fight against beings she previously couldn't. It was, in the Fanon it was from, the counterpart to the True Longinus after all.

"Are you all ready for this?" Morgan asked, looking over her peerage, all of them nodding, some with grins, some with no expressions showing, and some with slight nervousness.

"Are you ready, Morgan? You know that there's no taking this back once we do this, right?" Valiana asked her master/lover.

"Yeah. It's about time we stop hiding, Valiana. We've been holding back long enough, and it's time we show the Underworld-no, the entire world what we can do, what the house of Zagan can do. That pieces of scum like Rainel Phenex cannot just get by with what they are doing, that they WILL pay for it" Morgan said, a cold look on her face as she remembered the actions of Rainel Phenex.

She knew what she was going to do to the man, and how to. Now it was just taking part in the rating game, taking part in the event that will change her life forever. The event that the entire supernatural world will bear witness to.

The reveal of the most powerful peerage in the world

"And what are we going to do afterwards? You know that the devil council won't let this just pass, even if it's the ancient laws" Valiana pointed out, as Morgan snorted. She knew that this would cause a lot of political bullshit, but she could handle that easily enough.

"That's not something I am worried about, love. I can handle the old bats. For now we just need to focus on winning this game, and beating the shit out of the worms that we'll be fighting" Morgan said, as several of the members snorted or chuckled at her response. Not everyone could say something like that about the devil council, but Morgan wasn't everyone.

As the time hit noon, Morgan breathed in deeply, as a demonic circle formed in front of her, ready to summon her to the grounds for the rating game.

Looking back to her peerage, she began to walk towards it, as they followed after her behind her. One thought on her mind as she entered the circle to be teleported to the place her life would change, to the place she would...Ascend.

Next chapter is the reveal of her new peerage members, 5 members in total. It'll also be the biggest chapter so far in terms of importance, and is the second to last chapter for this volume.
