Dawn suddenly heard a loud blood-curdling scream. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" The voice echoing off the walls of the library.
Dawn's eyes widened as he turned to take in the sight of a boy, the boy stumble backwards, his arms flailing wildly as he screamed. The boy's eyes were fixed on something in front of him, but there was nothing there. He was screaming at empty air.
The boy's face was contorted in a mixture of fear and rage, and his body was tense and rigid, as if he was fighting against some unseen force. Dawn could see the fear and panic in his eyes, and he felt a surge of adrenaline as he wondered what was happening.
The boy's screams grew louder and more intense. Dawn was frozen in shock, unsure of what to do. He had never seen anything like this before.
Just then the boy started backing up to the wall, just then an old man appeared behind him. The old man was tall and gaunt, with long, flowing white hair that fell down his back like a river of snow. His eyes were piercing blue, and they seemed to be able to bore into the soul of anyone who looked in to them.
The old man's appearance was so sudden and unexpected that Dawn's eyes widened in shock. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. The old man seemed to come out of nowhere, and yet, he seemed to be exactly where he was meant to be.
Before the boy could continue to scream and struggle, his eyes suddenly rolled back as his neck arched forward as he seemed to lose consciousness, the boy's body began to slump forward, as if he was about to fall to the floor.
But before he could fall, another man who appeared to be around his early twenties caught him, holding him upright with a gentle but firm grip, the body's was limp and lifeless. Without waiting for a moment the man and the old man in a movement that was imperceptible, he seemed to vanish into thin air, taking the boy with them.
Dawn and the rest of the students were left standing alone in the library, feeling stunned and confused. He couldn't believe what he had just seen. The old man and the boy had seemed to disappear into thin air, leaving behind only a faint scent of ozone and a feeling of unease that lingered in the air.
As Dawn walked back to his class, his mind was reeling with thoughts about what had just transpired in the library. He couldn't shake the image of the boy screaming and flailing, or the old man and woman appearing and disappearing into thin air. It was all so surreal, so unbelievable.
Dawn's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of his classmates chattering and laughing as he entered the room. He took his seat, trying to compose himself and focus on the lesson at hand.
But as the teacher began to drone on about practical skills, Dawn's mind began to wander once again. He couldn't help but think about the boy in the library, and what had happened to him. Had he been okay? Was he still alive?
Dawn's thoughts were interrupted by the teacher's voice, calling out to him from across the room. "Dawn, what's on your mind?" he asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he gazed at Dawn.
Dawn hesitated, unsure of how to respond. But then he remembered Mr. Orion's words, about asking questions and seeking answers. He took a deep breath and spoke up, telling the teacher about what had happened in the library.
The teacher listened intently, his expression growing more and more serious as Dawn spoke. When Dawn finished, the teacher nodded thoughtfully and began to explain.
"What you witnessed in the library, Dawn, was a Soul Dairy scout. The Soul Dairy is an entity that seeks out individuals with strong soul integrity, and invites them to participate in it's trials."
Dawn's eyes widened as the teacher continued. "The trials are a test of an individual's soul, and their ability to harness its power. Those who succeed in the trials are rewarded with a deeper understanding of their soul quirk, and the ability to unlock its full potential."
The teacher paused, surveying the room to make sure everyone was paying attention. "But the trials are not without risk. Those who fail may suffer serious consequences, including damage to their soul core which will result in the individual being in a vegetable state or worst dead."
Dawn felt a shiver run down his spine as the teacher spoke. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. A Soul Dairy scout? Death trials? It all sounded so fantastical, so unbelievable.
But as he looked around the room, he saw that his classmates were all nodding and taking notes, as if this was all perfectly normal. Dawn felt a surge of confusion and disorientation. What was going on here?
The teacher continued, explaining that the Soul Dairy would be contacting certain students on the night of the red moon, inviting them to participate in the hunting trials. "Those who are contacted will be given a chance to prove themselves, to demonstrate their soul integrity and unlock their soul quirk," he said.
"The people who are contacted are usually taken to the trials at the Red moon ,but the exception are those who can't resist the temptation of the soul diary and are taken before the Red moon effectively separating them from the rest of the people who are supposed to go together with them".
"What are the consequences of going alone". Dawn asked in a small voice.
"They usually get thrown into the past of the trials which feactures more danger then the present all of them were usually going to, so in a nutshell the boy got contacted by the Soul Dairy and fearing the consequences he reacted the way he did .
"Is he goi g to the trials now". "Not really, but only if he could hold on and not give in to the soul dairy temptation".
And then Dawn's mind was reeling with questions and doubts. What did it mean to have a soul quirk? How did one unlock it? And what exactly were the hunting trials?
But before he could ask any of these questions, the teacher dismissed the class, telling them to review their notes and prepare for the next lesson.
As Dawn left the classroom, he felt no sense of excitement and trepidation. He had no idea what the future held, or what lay in store for him. But he knew one thing - he was determined to learn more about the Soul Dairy, and the mysterious hunting trials.
Over the next few minutes, Dawn found himself constantly thinking about the Soul Dairy and the hunting trials. He then went to his dorm room after coming from his night class. "Why didn't I read about this in the library, I will definitely read it next time I get they".
"About the library what really happened". He was still confused as how the old man had knocked out the boy. He started to think " is it related to his quirk". Confused he tried to reason out what had happened. After trying for some time he gave up as soon as he layed his back on the bad he felt a wave of warm energy coursed through him going throughout his body and then receding towards his upper spine
"It's as the same as when I was fighting Ryker". Dawn spoke aloud in confusion "is it my quirk". Then the warm current came again this time settling in his head, his brain in particular before permeating in his brain.
After spending that much time in the library he felt a burden in his head due to overloading his brain with lots of information and some where even slipping away from his memory but after that baptism the burden lessen but not completely but enough to shake out the mental tiredness. "This does feel like adapting, am adpting to the pressure". Dawn thought happily and then a through stroke through his mind, then he recalled the scene of the screaming kid.
"When the boy started screening the old man appeared behind him, judging by the forward arching of his throat the old man must has stroke the back of his neck". Dawn eyes widened as he took on the information of the revelation "it seems my intellect has increased". Dawn quickly forgot what has happened as he thought of how to experiment on his new found ability, on how to improve his stren•••, "now I can read as many books as possible and it won't be a problem for me". Dawn robbed his hand in glee as he thought of his beautiful future as a writer.
