The True Lady of the House

The servants started to whisper among themselves " isn't the lady of the house Madam Estelle ? Why is he calling this woman, M'lady ? Did he mistaken someone else due to his old age ?"

" Silent " the butler shouted making all the whispers disappear.

"The woman in front of you is the daughter of the first Madam and current true owner of the house, Lorence Addison." He scolded them.

"Lorence!!! Isn't that the useless and ugly daughter of the previous Madam ? How come she became so beautiful all of the sudden ? What's going on ? " They shared glances and communicated with their eyes but didn't spoke a single word.

"It's alright, they didn't saw my face before so, of course they wouldn't recognise me." She said in a calm and cool tone which sent shivers down their spine.

They also used to bully her back then, just to make their Madam and Miss happy but now, they feel like just a single wrong step and they are done for.

She calmly entered the living room and looked around. The more she saw the more her expression darken. Back then, the living room was full of her mother's pictures and portraits but now, it was replaced by portraits of her father, his current wife and his second daughter. Not a single one of them were about her and her deceased mother.

"Where are my mother's portraits ?" She widened her eyes and roared in anger.

"The Madam ordered us to remove them." The butler calmly replied completely understanding her outburst.

" Oh !!" Her tone sounded surprised but her expression was calm.

After finishing looking around, she headed upstairs towards the room where her mother used to stay.

" That's Madam Estelle's room." A servant said in a low voice.

She narrowed her eyes and asked "OPEN THE DOOR."

The butler signaled one of the servant, the servant swiftly opened the lock on the door and he swiftly went back to his place.

She entered the room and as expected not a single reminiscence of her mother was left. Everything was replaced including the colour on the wall, the carpet on the floor, Everything.

" Looks like they really want to act like my mother never existed. huh!!"

She spoke in raged tone.

"By the way, I haven't seen them yet. Where are they ?" She asked.

(They here clearly meant her father and her step family.)

" They are on the vacation in Italy." The butler replied.

" Oh !! They seem to be really enjoying their lives for someone who should be helping the company." She said in a mocking manner.

She came downstairs and asked the head butler " ARE ALL THE ROOMS LIKE THIS ?"

"Yes " he replied.

"Fine then, ALL OF THE SERVANTS, HEED MY ORDER. WE ARE CLEANING UP THE HOUSE."

"As you wish, M'lady." The butler replied with a smirk.

"As you wish, M'lady." The servants repeated after the butler.

" Oh!! By the way, Where are my mother's keepsakes." She looked at the servants and asked.

The servants began to look at each other as they got no idea where they are.

Back then, their Madam kept the valuable stuffs and ordered them to throw away things that weren't that valuable or had no value at all and so they did. Now that the true owner wants it back how will they bring things back they've thrown long time ago.

They couldn't do anything but to hold onto their breath and pray that they won't be punished for it.

When no answer came, she was about to raise her voice again but the butler spoke " don't worry, M'lady I've kept them in a safe place."

The servants breathed a sigh of relief thanking the butler for saving them inwardly.

" It's a good thing my mother's things are still there otherwise each and every one of you would've paid the price." She glared at them as she spoke on a cold tone.

"Now, remove all these dirty things and bring my mother's stuffs out." She pointed at the pictures hanging on the wall and said.

" Yes, M'lady." All the servants spoke simultaneously.
