Early morning, next day. Adele just woke up and inspected her eyes in her room. Everything was fine, then she inspected the eyes spread around and there didn't seem to be an issue either. Knowing this, she stood up from her bed and sat on the side.
She had one eye right outside her room, so she looked at it while waiting for someone to enter. Although the servants would wake up everyone very early, she woke up even before them. There was a simple reason for this: her soul was strong and had barely any need to rest. She knew that in fact, her parents and other extraordinary people were able to do the same, and the time they rested was less than it seemed.
From her guess, her parents and everyone around probably worked throughout the night and only slept two to three hours, and this was just to rest their mind, not that they actually needed it. But it was understandable, even if it wasn't for the rest, they would likely do it just as a way to show they are superior to those that have to work all the time and have no time to rest, such as poor people.
Soon, she saw that servants entered the door, so she adjusted her position and looked forward. When the maid opened the door, she was greeted by the awake Adele that looked straight at her. If she wasn't a trained maid, she'd jump in surprise.
In fact, all Holle's had eyes that could pierce their soul and see through everything. If there was a single speck inside their soul that was negative towards them, then the maid would be out of the house in a matter of seconds. There has never been a successful spy inside their family.
That is funny too, because the biggest spies of the empire, the Trugbild family, is their closest ally. It can be said that since the Trugbild couldn't spy in private, they spied openly. The same can be said for the Holle though. A spy would never want to have their information known by others, but extended exposure to the Holle wouldn't enable their secrecy.
The maid came forward and dressed Adele in a beautiful casual dress. Once finished, she also arranged her hair and then said "My lady, today is your tenth birthday banquet. Your dress has already been prepared, is there anything else I should prepare?"
"Did mother say anything?"
"No, her ladyship has already ordered that the lady will be responsible for her own appearance in the banquet."
"Haha, mother is truly trusting of me. Say, how much is she actually controlling in the dark? I reckon it was her who told the tailor to specifically arrange dresses to her taste when he came here a month ago."
The maid was quiet for a second but then replied, "It is indeed so, she also asked the hairdresser and other professionals about their idea and told them what to do and what to give as a recommendation."
All servants in the mansion had to be absolutely honest, if they weren't asked, they didn't need to say it. But once they are asked, they have to be truthful, even if it went against the wishes of a family member. After all this time, it was pushed into their bones. Even if they lied for a different family member, lying is lying and the Holle bloodline can perceive this, so naturally they would be kicked out.
Although Adele heard this, she didn't care. Her mother was very considerate of her and even gave the image that she was fully responsible. This wasn't something others enjoyed.
Other mothers could do the same, but they didn't. Clearly this was an attempt to show her trust into her daughter. If Adele didn't ask, then it would've been a good move too. But, Adele wasn't truly so young, so she wasn't hurt at all, instead, she felt that it was nice to have such a good mother. Her first wasn't like this, after all.
After she readied herself, she came down while the maid followed after. The dining room was on the second floor while she lived on the fourth floor. It didn't take long for her to go down. Even if her doppelgänger bloodline was specialised on eyes and was rather magical, it was still a physical bloodline, so she was always full of vitality and energy.
She was happy about this. From the records in her family, many of the Holle bloodline became weak very early in age. Giving lifespan in exchange of prophecies damaged their vitality a bit too, and only few had a natural constitution that was strong, so they would always be weaker even among those of similar lifespan.
When she arrived in the dining room, her mother, father and grandfather were already present. The moment she arrived, her mother looked at the maid behind, the same was true for the grandfather. This little maid felt guilty towards Isabel, so she quickly understood what happened and shook her head "Adele oh Adele, you are growing up too fast!"
Adele on the other side shook her head "I feel like I'm even slow in comparison to those written in the records of our family. Even grandfather was already called a young gentleman when he was only nine, while people only call me young miss when I'm outside."
Friedrich smiled at this "How can this be! Ah, the records are really vicious. It must've been the previous butler that wrote them. If only we could destroy, or at least change them!"
Adele once again shook her head "History is important, even such details that seem superfluous could be important when understanding your character, behaviour and what you did in a retrospective view.
If people called you childish when you were young, and you made a mistake, wouldn't everyone say it was because you're childish? But when people call you a gentleman, then any mistake would be a problem and you wouldn't escape without punishment, even though you're only a child."
"See, father-in-law, my little daughter is very smart. It has no use arguing against her. She will refute you in ingenious ways regardless! Ah, I still remember…"
Isabel chimed in "What do you remember? You act like your daughter is an old woman already! As far as I remember, she was like this since she was able to talk. No, even early, she didn't even cry when she was born. Alas, this is the fate of everyone born extraordinary – their soul is stronger than their physical body, so they are much more mature than they should be!"
"But mother, I read that you would close your room and refuse to leave for days at a time when you were young and didn't get what you want… maybe it's different from case to case."
"Youuu! You little girl, sit down and eat!"
Everyone was quiet but everyone on the table was perceptive. As a doppelgänger, Ludwig was very sensitive to physical changed, he could even tell apart a thousand different little changes every day, while the Holle bloodline was naturally extremely perceptive. It was common not to hide yourself in front of your family, some even called it rude when you did it. Because of this, everyone knew very well how much the other was humoured, but no one talked.
