System limitation...???

Sssss… srrrr… sssss…

The sound of the green serpent's hissing echoed through the dense jungle, chilling Ray to the bone. His body trembled despite his efforts to stay calm.

In front of him stood the enormous beast, its coiled body stretching 40-50 feet long. Its emerald scales glinted in the faint light, and even the massive seven-to eight foot chickens in his legion looked tiny in comparison to the serpent's towering frame.

Ray swallowed hard, forcing himself to focus. He couldn't afford to lose control. His summons, emotionless as always, stood their ground, shielding him without hesitation. But that wouldn't be enough Ray knew it.

Taking a deep breath, he fought against the suffocating pressure the beast's aura exuded. His mortal body was screaming at him to submit, but he gritted his teeth, ignoring the weakness.

"I need to know what I'm dealing with," Ray muttered under his breath. Without wasting a second, he activated the system's appraisal function. A translucent panel flickered in front of his eyes, displaying the beast's stats.

Name: Green Serpent Snake

Level: Apprentice (Early-Middle Stage)

Length: 40-50 feet

Type: Beast, Poison Attribute

Grade: Low-Tier Spirit Beast

Danger Level: Extremely dangerous (Host strength is too weak)

Abilities:

Venom Fang Strike

Coiling Constriction

Poison Mist Breath

Camouflage

Ray's eyes locked onto the bright red warning on the side of the screen. His stomach sank.

"Fuck, what does this even mean?" he hissed, his voice shaking. "What's 'Apprentice' stage? How does it compare to my nine-star monsters? What's the difference?"

As if on cue, the system unexpectedly responded with a soft ding!

[System Notice:]

The strength of host's beasts is very low. The 1-star to 9-star levels fall under the Mortal Realm this means they have not yet begun the cultivation journey. After Mortal Realm comes Novice Realm, followed by Apprentice Realm.

Ray's eyes widened in shock. "They're… still in the Mortal Realm?" he muttered, staring at the screen. His heart sank further. All his hard work, all the monsters he fused they weren't even close to the serpent's level.

"Shit!" Ray spat, snapping back to reality as the serpent hissed again. He had no time to dwell on the revelation. The green serpent wasn't going to wait for him to strategize.

It loomed over him, its glowing eyes locked onto his, unblinking and predatory. The oppressive weight of its gaze made his knees tremble.

"Be a good baby… let me go," Ray whispered nervously, as if trying to reason with a child. His voice barely concealed his fear. "I'll pray to the serpent god, okay? I swear…"

The serpent, of course, didn't care.

Ssssssss!

Its neck coiled back like a spring, and then, faster than lightning, it lunged straight for Ray.

Ray's heart stopped. He jumped to the side instinctively, barely avoiding the attack. The serpent's massive head shot past him, its gaping jaws snapping shut with a sickening clack.

Before Ray could catch his breath, the serpent's mouth opened wide again, this time targeting the Miceooster standing in front of him. The loyal monster leaped up, claws aiming for the serpent's eyes in a desperate counterattack.

But the serpent was too fast.

With one swift motion, its jaws closed around Miceooster, swallowing the five-foot creature whole.

"Miceooster!" Ray screamed, his voice cracking. His eyes darted to his system screen, where Miceooster's profile flickered and disappeared entirely.

The serpent's massive body crashed into a tree behind it, the force of its attack carrying it forward. The impact shook the ground, but the beast didn't seem fazed. It let out another menacing hiss, turning its cold eyes back to Ray.

Ray's chest heaved as he scrambled to his feet, adrenaline surging through his veins. "That bastard just ate Miceooster in one bite," he muttered, disbelief and anger flooding his thoughts.

He didn't have time to mourn. The serpent's stomach was probably acidic, or its venom had already killed Miceooster. Either way, his loyal monster was gone.

"Fuck, what do I do?" Ray's mind raced, panic creeping in. The serpent was far stronger than anything he'd faced. It was impossible to defeat a beast two cultivation realms above him. He knew that better than anyone.

The serpent hissed again, uncoiling its massive body as it prepared for another strike.

Ray started backing away slowly, his legs trembling. His chickens and mice moved instinctively, forming a protective line between him and the beast.

"Good boys," Ray whispered, his voice tight. "Just hold it off…"

But he knew this was no ordinary fight. If he didn't act fast, he was going to die.

Ray's mind raced, desperately searching for a way out. The difference in strength between him and the serpent was too overwhelming. He knew firsthand how much of a struggle it was to fight even a one-star beast. The gap between their levels was like an unbridgeable canyon.

Small challenges? He could handle those with effort. But defeating a 9-star Miceooster by himself? No way. And that monstrous serpent had just devoured it in a single bite, as if it were nothing.

His body trembled as frustration and panic gripped him. What do I do? What do I do?

Ray glanced over his shoulder at his remaining monsters two chickens and two mice. Four loyal 9-star beasts stood between him and death, their courage unwavering.

But he knew the truth. They wouldn't stand a chance. They'd die too.

Ray's breath came fast, panic threatening to take over. His thoughts spiraled. I can't let that happen. I can't lose them too.

Desperation pushed him to act. Without hesitation, he summoned his monsters back into the system space, their forms vanishing in an instant. His fingers fumbled as he opened his system panel, pulling up their profile cards.

The serpent's hiss grew louder, a bone-chilling sound that reverberated through the air. The beast was poised to strike again, and Ray could feel its gaze boring into him. He didn't have time. Seconds, maybe.

His hands moved frantically, dragging the profiles into the fusion table. Sweat dripped down his temple, his mind racing. In his desperation, he forgot one crucial detail monsters could only be fused if they were the same gender.

He didn't think. He couldn't think.

Blindly, he placed the rooster and chicken male and female in one section and tapped the fusion button again and again. At the same time, he did the same with the male and female mice in another row. His heart pounded like a drum, each beat screaming at him to move faster.

This has to work. It has to.

[System Notice:]

Congratulations! You have fused two 9-star monsters.

Note: Gender will be randomly selected.

Result: One Novice Cultivation Stage Chicken (Female).

Result: One Novice Cultivation Stage Mice (Male).

[System Notice:]

Congratulations! You have earned two Novice reward chests.

The system's notification dinged in his ears, and for a split second, Ray froze. His heart skipped a beat as the text flashed before his eyes.

Two Novice-stage monsters. He'd done it. But as he looked away from the screen, his chest tightened.

The green serpent had straightened its massive body, towering like a tree above him. Its glowing eyes locked onto him, unblinking and predatory.

Sssssssss.

"No, no…" Ray muttered under his breath, his voice trembling. Even with two Novice-stage monsters, it wouldn't be enough. The serpent was still far stronger.

Panic clawed at him, but there was no time to process how he had bypassed the system's fusion limitation. None of it mattered right now.

Ray's hands flew back to the system panel. He didn't summon the Novice-stage monsters yet. Instead, he dragged their profiles into the fusion table again.

"This has to work," he whispered, his voice cracking. His fingers tapped the fusion button repeatedly, his vision blurring from the sweat dripping into his eyes.

ding!

Congratulations! You have fused two Novice-stage monsters.
