A black lizard stood in a small cage, its eyes filled with indignation and helplessness.
In front of the black lizard was a pack of gigantic wolves—compared to them, the lizard was like an ant.
This was Daniel, the first main character to be put in a cage before he had even spent five days in this world.
Let's do a flashback and see how Daniel failed to escape this situation.
"I am sorry for intruding on your beautiful sleep."
Draco forced a smile, glancing at his tail, which was clamped beneath the wolf's claws.
"How can a weak one like you survive in this forest?" The wolf, who held Daniel down and seemed to be the Alpha of the pack, said.
Daniel's eardrums were already ringing—the voice was just too intense. He cried out in frustration at his bad luck.
"I just got lost, you know. A weak being like me just wants to see what life has in store."
Daniel was babbling nonsense, but in a way, it made sense.
When the Alpha wolf heard this, it looked at Daniel, sniffing him before saying, "You can go."
When Daniel heard this, he felt like leaping for joy, but he calmed himself, putting on a flattering smile.
"Thank you for your benevolence."
Just as Daniel was about to leave—
"Alpha, you can't let it go! Have you ever heard of a weak being like this having the ability to talk?"
An ash-colored wolf spoke out.
When Daniel heard the Ash Wolf's words, he felt like pummeling the wolf.
"Why can't it just let me go in peace? No harm was done!" he thought bitterly.
"Wait," the Alpha Wolf roared.
Daniel considered running, but after glancing at the size and numbers of the wolves around him, he sighed in defeat.
He was certain that if he took even one step, he would be seeing heaven in the next moment.
The only thing he could hope for was that nothing would go wrong, but alas…
"Alpha, do you remember the Lizard Clan we are fighting? Even though this small lizard doesn't look exactly like one of them, he resembles them. He might be a spy from the Lizard Clan," the Ash Wolf said.
When Daniel heard this, his mood plummeted.
"Of all creatures, why does this wolf pack's enemy have to be a lizard?!"
He cursed his bad luck—so far, everything in this world had been working against him.
The Alpha wolf, upon hearing this, nodded in realization.
"Lock him up," he commanded.
Draco watched helplessly as he was thrown into a cage, and that was how he ended up in this situation.
"This is child abuse!" Daniel screamed indignantly from the cage.
The wolf pack didn't even bother to listen or look at him. They just kept walking—to where, only heaven knew.
After minutes of shouting and cursing, Draco slumped down inside the cage, accepting defeat.
There was nothing he could do.
As they continued their journey, Daniel was surprised to find that they were heading toward a village.
Looking at it, he sighed.
"So even a village and innocent people are falling into the claws of these wolves…"
As they moved closer, Daniel was even more shocked to see two human-like beings guarding the entrance.
The only thing different about them was their tails and wolf ears, which confused him.
While he was lost in thought, he was suddenly shocked and amazed to see the wolves transform into half-human forms, retaining their wolf ears and tails.
Daniel watched this scene speechlessly before calling out to Drax.
"Wait… what kind of forest am I in?!" he asked.
For a beast to be able to transform into a human form, it meant its cultivation had transcended mortality.
This was what he had learned from the novels he read.
"I already told you—this is the number one most dangerous forest in the world. A forest where beasts live, and some are even at the Origin Saint Realm," Drax chuckled.
Daniel's lizard jaw dropped when he heard this.
"When the hell did you mention that?!"
"Oh, I didn't… but I thought I did," Drax scratched his head, muttering in a low tone.
When Daniel heard this, his face twitched in anger.
For the first time since his rebirth, he was truly furious.
"If I had known this was the number one most dangerous forest, even my own mother wouldn't have given birth to me bold enough to cross 1 km outside the cave!
And I sure as hell wouldn't have been wandering in the open.
I would have been moving like an assassin!
No wonder a f*cking rabbit could beat the hell out of me!"
He looked at Drax, who whistled as he avoided Daniel's gaze. Daniel wanted to bash him, but he forced himself to calm down.
"Then what realm is the Alpha of the pack?"
"Use your Appraisal skill now," Drax grumbled.
"Which Appraisal skill?" Daniel looked at Drax, a bit confused.
"Didn't you awaken it along with your Claw and Bite skills?" Drax asked.
"Oh… it seems I kinda forgot to add it to your skill list," Drax said cheekily.
This time, Daniel felt helpless from anger.
"Is this really a system? Won't it be this system that leads to my downfall?"
He had just started his cultivation journey, and this system had already made two errors.
"For heaven's sake, what kind of pot did I dip my hands into?" Daniel cried internally.
Ding!
[You have gained the skill: Appraisal]
Appraisal: This skill allows the Host to scan or analyze an object, item, or entity to gather detailed information about its properties, attributes, or characteristics.
Note: Host cannot detect the cultivation of those twenty levels above the Host.
Daniel read this and immediately appraised the Alpha.
Race: SilverMoon Wolf (Alpha)
Level: ?????
When Daniel read this, he gave up. The only thing he had learned about the Alpha was its race.
And from the system's words, it seemed that the Alpha's cultivation couldn't be lower than the Origin Warrior Realm—two realms above him.
"Keep this lizard in the prison," the Alpha ordered.
Daniel, still inside the cage, was handed over to the guards, who looked at him with killing intent, making him shiver.
His cage was then placed inside a wooden prison, and he accepted whatever fate had in store for him.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps, and from the sound, it was heading in his direction.
Daniel looked vigilantly toward the source of the footsteps.
When the owner was revealed, Daniel was surprised.
It was a five-year-old girl with wolf ears and a tail.
"What a cute lizard!" the young girl giggled.
When Daniel heard this, he felt as if he had found a rope after falling into the abyss.
He then forced himself to make puppy-dog eyes—imagine a lizard doing puppy-dog eyes.
"So cute!" the young girl said delightedly, while Daniel smirked inwardly at this.
He was shocked as the young girl pulled out a key and unlocked the prison with it. From the looks of it, she had stolen it.
"My main character halo is finally activated!" Daniel cried out internally with joy.
