26. Another Problem

As Eryndor finished his meal and returned to his room, he could not dispel the feeling of joy that still remained from his earliest growth. But he still had to look at the notification he had gotten from the legacy of the crescent prince earlier.

Annoyingly he found everything the same with the first page. The most annoying part was his magic point which only seemed to have increased barely. Disappointed he checked the next page of the legacy.

After going through all his information one more time he took a while to ponder on everything. Aside from the two new mastery he had gained there was not any considerable change, the most obvious being his mana point.

"Hey master, can I ask you something?" He spoke to the eye.

He did not get a reply but he could sense the consciousness of the eye creeping in ever so quietly.

"Why can't my mana increase?" Eryndor asked in a very serious tone.

He felt the aura in his eye spoke and waited for the response but got nothing but silence in return. After a while the eye relaxed and the consciousness faded entirely as if going to sleep. Infuriated Eryndor picked his skin causing it to break and blood flowing out of it.

"What are you going back to sleep now? Stupid master." He threw himself myself into the bed and fought against the frustration.

A feeling of dread overwhelmed him as he mentioned the next words. "Or can't I absorb mana from the environment?" His left eye beamed back to life only for a few seconds before going back into it's slumber.

This was enough to answer Eryndor's question, after all of his meditation and training he had just realised the fact that he was unable to cultivate mana.

In a world weaved from the very mana that have life and purpose to everything that existed, not being able to grow one's own mana was a death sentence already. "It has to be that damn cursed attribute of mine. There it goes ruining my chances of a good life."

Just when all hope seemed lost his left eye beamed back to life and spoke.

["There is another way to grow your mana"]

Eryndor did not need to be told twice since he already knew of the other method. If he wanted to grow faster his only choice would be to consume the core of a beast. Since beasts were just like them as they harboured their own mana cores a mage could boost his power by consuming the cores of such beasts.

The first step would be to kill a beast, at his level if he ever managed to kill even a normal beast then that would be considered a miracle. The lowest level beasts were called normal beasts and they had dormant cores just like any beginner mage. Having dormant core would mean it was only considerable stronger than normal creatures.

Though it would have an increase in stamina, speed and versitility it would not have any special or life threatening feature. Eryndor believed that with enough planning he could possibly kill one, emphasis on the possibly.

The lowest level of beasts he knew that existed in the area were the white mountain wolves he had seen seen on his first day. But those wolves were fast and he was not that athletic, even his magic was good for nothing.

"Common there is no way that I am killing one of those things without any mana. I need to think of a way to supplement my low mana while I get stronger to actually hunt one of those wolves." Feeling his confidence return he challenged himself and tried the flame body tempering only that this time he commanded a ball of flame to appear in one of his palm and it did.

With a spark a ball of flame hovered abover his palm just a few diameters in size. He could feel the warmth from it, gently washing over his hand.

"Neat!" He smiled, but he soon quenched the emotion. If he really wanted to do any proper magic with spells then he would have to find a beast core and fast.

With the situation of things around the cottage his best bet would be to escape as soon as Thalvarin left on his routine hunt. Since Eryndor had learnt the body tempering technique leaving the cottage was easy game, till he would run out of mana eventually.

His main problem was still the fact that his mana was too low to perform any real spells. He threw himself back on the bed and stared blankly at the ceiling, thinking about how to go about his pitiful situation.

Eventually the nerve racking thought overwhelmed him and he fell into a deep slumber.
