Team Rocket

As I was standing there feeling proud of myself the man approached me and Selena and then said—

"Congratulations Nicholas, you have won this little tournament, you can keep the zubat officially"

Then he turned to Selena and said

"Selena you are a great trainer, don't be disappointed, you did pretty well but your opponent was just better"

I felt a bit embarrassed getting complemented like that

The man spoke again—

"Okay, now I would like to extend an offer to you both, if the others hadn't left I would have offered them this offer too but unfortunately you two broke them a bit too much."

He chuckled lightly and then took out a drowzee.

'Wait why did he bring out a drowzee'

I had suspicions from the beginning and it seems I was on point, this guy is not just hosting a friendly competition.

Seeing out curious and apprehensive looks he said

"I am actually a member of team rocket and I would like to invite you both to join us"

'I knew it.' I thought grimly realising the situation, I looked over at Selena and she looked scared too, I felt her inching closer to me.

The man continued

"Before you make a hasty decision I would like to tell you the perks of joining team rocket, at least hear them out. Also don't worry, if you reject drowzee here will erase your memories of this moment."

I took in a sharp breathe and tensed up, the man was about to speak again when Selena said—

"Y-you can't do this, using Pokémon moves on humans are illegal"

The man hearing this chucked and said

"Girl, I am a member of team rocket, do you think I would care about something like laws. You are quite dull aren't you? Anyways what was I saying? Yes the perks, for you Selena, you get to keep your Meowth, along with that team rocket will invest in your development wether it be providing you with certain items or mentorship."

The man then looked at me and said

"Nicholas as the winner you get to keep your Pokémon by default even if you reject the offer. If you join us firstly you will get access to what I told Selena. Along with that you may request any first stage Pokémon from Team Rocket, well not any I guess, we can't arrange for pseudo legendary Pokémon currently but we can get you any stater you want. Next you will directly start as an Elite Grunt and not as a grunt. Oh also if you are ever caught we will arrange your bail as quickly as possible.So what about it?"

I adopted a thoughtful expression

'This is a very serious decision I can't take it lightly'

As I was thinking Selena said—

"I accept…"

The man smiled and said

"Good Selina, welcome abroad" He then looked at me with a patient expression

'Damnit…I wanted to be a champion, a master, not a villain. But honestly I don't even have identification, it's like I randomly spawned somehow….' I then said

"I…I actually want to be a Pokémon master, not a rocket member" I say with conviction

The man did not looked surprised, he calmly said—

"If that's what you want team rocket can support you, we do need people who are willing to challenge the leagues and hold an influential position..but if you disagree I won't push it, the choice is yours however I would like to say that with the support of team rocket behind, you can easily establish yourself in the Pokémon world as an elite trainer. We will provide you with resources and even Pokémon if you need as long as you can relay information behind the scenes and participate in important missions"

I thought 'This sounds too good to be true' I then say

"What is the catch?"

The man answered seriously

"Well the catch is you have to become an executive before starting this journey"

I asked—

"An executive?"

He again answered

"It is a position in the Team Rocket, executives are directly under the command of the Boss"

'This…this is complicated, should I associate myself with team rocket? There are so many downsides but there are way more benifits. Surviving in this world without any backing will not be easy for me, I may even fail to forge an identification. Well I have no choice but to—'

"I accept"
