Mask of Deceit?

[Item Name: "Mask of Deceit"]

[Item Type: "Accessory"]

[Item Rank 6 ]

[Item Description: "In its reflection lies a thousand truths, and none are real."

"Forged by the God of Shattered Truths at the height of the Celestial war, this jagged and elegant mask was created to tip the scales in favour of chaos.

While other gods forged weapons of destruction or protection, the God of Shattered Truths envisioned a more befitting tool for his title—a mask that could infiltrate the hearts of both mortals and deities alike.

This item was designed to split unity and form webs of mistrust and paranoia among even the closest allies.

With every lie believed, and every alliance unravelled like a ball of strings, the God of Shattered Truths' influence grew, turning the war into a theatre of treachery."]

[Enchantments: "Veil of Eternal Lies", "Shroud of the Shadowed Mind", "Fractured Resolve"]

"This..." Lillian stared at the dreadful item with a grim expression, "This thing relates back to the Celestial War...?!" She spoke with a fearful tone. (2)

The Celestial War that took place during the Pre-Exodus Era occurred just right before the Gods and other celestial beings withdrew from the mortal world.

Well... in the other mortal world, since things called Gates lead to a specific history of that world.

When gods were deeply involved in mortal affairs, a war broke out to determine the fate between both the celestial and mortal realms.

The war was said to leave a long-lasting scar on the land, and the aftermath caused the gods to retreat and rethink their involvement with mortals.

It was said in countless items that detailed it that it was a widespread cataclysmic event that laid entire civilisations to ruin. Cities turned to ash, and forests withered under the divine forces locked in battle.

The war took place in the mortal realm, after all...

Lillian then bit the nail of her thumb, "They couldn't have taken it somewhere else?" (3)

It was said that the Gods who survived imposed their influence over the mortal realm—granting those who had aligned themselves with them gifts and blessings.

Those who lost, however, were abandoned. Cursed and lost to history.

Divine items and powerful relics—even souls and bodies of the fallen gods themselves—became part of the mortal realm's landscape.

Lillian tightly gripped the edges of the mask—her hand caressing the jagged metal parts of it. (3)

She then narrowed her eyes and pried into the enchantments. (2)

[Enchantment: "Veil of Eternal Lies"]

[Enchantment's Description: "When the wearer dons the Mask of Deceit, their words, actions, and presence are thus cloaked in an aura of deceit and deception. Regardless of their ability to perceive the truth, those around the wearer will find it harder to distinguish between the truth and falsehood.

The longer the mask is worn, the more adept the wearer becomes at convincing others as the aura strengthens over time. However, over time, the wearer would soon believe and become enveloped in their own lies."]

[Enchantment: "Shroud of the Shadowed Mind"]

[Enchantment's Description: "The wearer's thoughts become obscured from magical or psychic detection—leaving them nearly immune to all kind of attempts that may intend to probe the wearer's mind."]

[Enchantment: "Fractured Resolve"]

[Enchantment's Description: "The wearer, upon activation, can create a momentary fracture in the resolve of those around them. This enchantment causes their targets to hesitate, question their beliefs, or falter in their decisions for brief moments. This, however, requires deep focus and a constant stream of mana. The stronger-willed they are, the more costly it would be."]

Lillian read over the enchantments and let out a shaky sigh, "This... mask is all about control, huh?" From the mask's description alone, she could already tell that the God of Shattered Truths was twisted and sadistic in a way. (2)

She tightly gripped the mask before chucking it inside her spacial ring, "I'm just going to keep it in there in case I ever need it..." She had a feeling that just using one of the enchantments besides "Shroud of the Shadowed Mind" would cost her a great deal amount of mana... which she doesn't have a load of.

And she'd rather not suddenly die from being sucked dry of mana.

"What a generous yet concerning reward..." The Lady of Luck was indeed generous to those who could satisfy her fantasies. All Lillian had to do was achieve first place in the exam without dying, and she was gifted with an item that dates back to a Great war and belonged/created by a God that orchestrated it.

"How did this system even manage to acquire it...? Or is this just a replica?" Lillian thought before shaking her head, refusing to use any more brainpower on a subject far above her pay grade. (3)

She then decided to take a look at the last reward she received from this quest, which was revealed to be useless. Lillian held up a suspicious-looking key to something.

The key was made with something resembling gold, except it seemed to sparkle like the brightest star found in a pitch-black sky. It was mesmerising, to say the least, but also infuriating because she couldn't figure out what it did.

She decided to take a look at this by analysing it, only to become disappointed with what she saw.

[This item is locked. This item is only accessible once the Host has reached the 2nd Tier.]

"I have to reach the second Tier just to be able to use some key? What crap is this?" She eyed the key suspiciously. Why did a metal key have such an intense restriction?

She sighed and tossed it into her ring like she did with her mask. "I should probably start pulling everything from my ring out here..." With that said, she began to pull out all her stuffed bunnies and neatly placed them around her bed.

After that, she set up her PC and placed it on her desk. She stared at the chair with a shake of her head, "I must go buy a better one later." But she was too lazy to do it now.

She hopped back into her bed and looked through her system until... she noticed she had completed another one as well...

She opened the quest and noticed it was the one where she had to befriend Marionette. Did she actually complete it? Does becoming acquaintances with her count as befriending?

"Or... could it be she actually meant friends...?" She tilted her head at this subject and decided to forget about it. She looked down at the rewards and saw that it was another question mark.

[Reward: ???]

"... Why do you have to be so mysterious...?" She sighed and claimed the reward. The screen widened once again, along with the appearance of the black hole. (2)

Lillian yawned and pulled up her sleeve before reaching inside. This time around, the object felt wet and almost squishy in a way. After pulling it out, she stared at it for a long time before dropping it accidentally and screaming. (18)

"AH!"

She backed away from it as she saw what she had been rewarded was a... baseball-sized eyeball.

The eyeball fell onto her bed and stared at her. It had a strange green tint to it with its dark green pupils and black sclera that was covered in bright green veins that seemed to pulse with light.

Lillian hesitantly reached over and grabbed it, her face morphing into one of disgust as she sensed a pungent smell coming off of it. "What even are you...?" She said before analysing it. (5)
