Chapter 21: Speechless

"With the need to nourish the Spirit Serpent itself, I would need even more resources" Kyrell sighed.

He was truly a worrywart. It was easy for his clan to provide enough cultivation resources while he was still at the Genetic Awakener Realm and the difficulty would only lie when he was at the Genetic Strengthener Realm which was still far off in the future but he was already worrying.

"It's not yet your time to worry about securing resources. Your father is not that poor"

Suddenly, a familiar voice entered Kyrell's ears and the latter immediately stood up. "Father" he greeted, not surprised by the sudden appearance of his father.

"Hmm" Fraser nodded his head in acknowledgment before asking a question.

"You should start preparing now. In a few days, you will need to start traveling if you want to reach the Royal Academy on time. Do you really want to go?"

As early as a month ago, he already sensed some hidden currents. He is not yet aware of the full picture but he at least guessed a part of it and that further solidified his desire to enter the Royal Academy.

"It's not that I want to but I need to enter the Royal Academy, father. There are certain opportunities that I can only get from the Academy. While Father is right that you can support my cultivation, I am quite greedy. A cultivator can't have too many resources after all" the young man replied and Fraser nodded his head, not intending to stop his son anymore.

As a Spirit Nourisher Cultivator, Fraser is even more aware of how important resources are for cultivators. That is also one of the reasons why...

Fraser took a deep breath to throw the unnecessary thoughts away before speaking again.

"Alright, I won't stop you. Think of it as a 'vacation', think of the people there as people that you will only meet as a tourist"

Those simple sentences hid some meaning and Kyrell unconsciously clenched his fist. The hypothesis he has solidified even more.

"Understood, father" he said obediently before asking a question. "This 'vacation'... how much time do you think I have...?"

"It can be as short as a few months or as long as a year"

Kyrell nodded his head while whispering inside his head. "At most a year huh..."

Unconsciously, Kyrell surveyed his courtyard, feeling like it was only a matter of time before...

"Alright, father. I will do as you say" he said with a deep breath.

"Kyrell, our lives may change but... remember this. No matter what the environment is, I am your father. The feelings I have for you... it will never change."

"And... I can destroy the world itself if I need to, I can be a demon if I need to, but you will always be my son. The things I can do to others... I will never be able to do it to you"

Fraser's tone was as serious as it can be as if he was afraid that Kyrell would misunderstand something and the latter can only give a wry smile.

"Father's love over the years, how can I not feel it? In the whole clan, is there even anyone that I am 'close' with? Father should be 'aware' of that"

Kyrell's words, just like his father were filled with hidden meanings. He now became aware of even more things due to the unspoken words between the two of them.

"Good, I didn't raise you for nothing. Always remember that you are my family... my only family" Throughout the end, Fraser's words were more of a whispher but Kyrell still nodded his head.

——

A few days later

Inside a car that costs at least a few million, aside from the driver, only two people were sitting in the passenger seat.

"Young Master, once we're outside the city, please always stay with me" Melissa said in a serious tone.

"Alright, alright, I know. With how serious you are, people would think that someone is going to assassinate me. Isn't that right, little Ifrit?" Kyrell said playfully before poking the little serpent on his shoulder.

"Hiss... hiss..." the small serpent hissed repeatedly as if it agreed to its owner's words causing the latter to chuckle.

After hearing his playful words, silence reigned inside the car as a constipated expression formed on Melissa's face.

"So... they will finally make their move again, right?" Kyrell asked but he already knew the answer deep inside and his loyal maid nodded her head before speaking again.

"Indeed, they will but they are also afraid. They wouldn't dare kill you, Young Master. If that happens, they might as well kill themselves. The Patriarch will surely start a bloodbath"

"Heh... they wouldn't kill me so let me guess... they want to cripple me, correct?" Kyrell asked coldly and Melissa nodded her head.

If the clan wanted to change the power dynamic in the clan and prevent Kyrell from truly becoming the heir, the best way was to kill him.

However, by killing him, they would provoke a bloodthirsty madman. If he died, Fraser would surely turn the Evander family upside down. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that if Kyrell dies, the whole clan will die with him.

You can provoke a madman but never fully antagonize them if you wish for even a sliver of chance for survival!

With Fraser's domineering strength and attitude, he can definitely erase the Evander Family from the world. As such, they can only resort to the thing that would also result in deaths but not total annihilation and that is crippling Kyrell.

If he became a waste that is unable to cultivate, how can he be the Clan's next heir?

"Heh... they truly are too anxious. It hasn't even been 3 months since I became a cultivator but they are already dying to make a move again" Kyrell sneered while unconsciously touching his belly.

Different cultivation arts are different paths of power. Because of that, there are also different ways to turn a cultivator into a cripple.

In Kyrell's case, the way to cripple him is by destroying his [Spirit Seal Space]. Its destruction even if it doesn't kill him would undoubtedly injure him greatly and all of his efforts would be wasted.

Once it was destroyed, he would never be able to cultivate the Spirit Serpent Art anymore. Even if he tries to switch to another cultivation art, he might still fail to do so.

"Say, Melissa, why does the Clan hate my father so much? It simply doesn't make sense"

"Even if the Elders want to grasp power but aren't they aware that only with my father, a Spirit Nourisher Cultivator can the clan be as strong and outstanding as it is now?"

"Even the resources that they currently enjoy, isn't it all because we have such a powerful cultivator in the clan?"

This was something that always puzzled Kyrell. He knew that his father had a rough past and it was not easy for him to become the Patriarch, word is that he even killed all of his siblings to get his current position.

"Sigh... the reason... I believe it might disappoint the Young Master as it was not anything grand or big" Melissa answered and that piqued Kyrell's interest and he motioned for his maid to continue speaking.

"The Evander Family... it is a very conservative clan. As the Young Master might now, the Patriarch is the son of the previous Patriarch with a maid"

"Because of that, when he was young, the Patriarch suffered a lot of discrimination. He was viewed as the disdainful descendant because he was the son of a maid"

"With the discrimination, the Patriarch vowed to have the clan at the top of his palm. He strived hard for cultivation and eventually became a Spirit Nourisher Cultivator"

At that, Kyrell was speechless. That's it? That's the entire reason? It couldn't be any cliché as it is.

It was your common conservative family that valued bloodline purity and thought that the blood of a normal maid was lowly and disgusting.

It was such a nonsensical reason that Kyrell became speechless. To think that they would sacrifice a Spirit Nourisher Cultivator because of their elitism... how stupid.

"Hehehe, I knew Young Master would be speechless. But anyway, with the Patriarch's strength, what can they do? He has the strength and the guts to do whatever he wants"

Kyrell can only shake his head and after their car exited the city, he felt it hovering in the air.

Their car is a hover car. While it cannot fly high in the air, it can still float up to about two meters from the ground.

The road outside the city is not developed due to the presence of the magic beasts that might destroy it anytime. As such, there is a need to travel with a hover car outside. If not, with the rough terrain, not only would the ride be uncomfortable, the car might even malfunction.
