Chapter 27: Battle Against The Yeriwe Centipede (2)

With almost 2 months of training, Kyrell's mastery over the Fiendish Dagger Technique and Soft Bone Sword Technique has already reached advanced mastery. Hence, even his basic dagger attack was lethal.

It's just that his opponent was physically stronger than him, which somewhat suppressed his daggers and sword. However, now that his martial skills were able to bind half of the limbs attacking him, his dagger's technique finally showed its lethality.

With ease, half of the limbs were cut by him, causing the centipede to bleed even more and also to be further enraged.

Now that five of its limbs turned useless, it controlled five more of its limbs to grow and attack. Just like earlier, Kyrell was forced to face ten arms.

Even his vine was ripped to pieces by these limbs causing him to frown. He might have found the weak point of the opponent but this still wouldn't be an easy battle!

While sighing, Kyrell used his nimble movements and the unnatural way he could control his body to continuously dodge the limbs. With Zero's ability to show the trajectory of the enemy's attack, it was not that hard.

From time to time, Kyrell would also throw shurikens at the centipede's weak points and caused it to shed even more blood.

By relying on kiting technique, he can kill this centipede in time but ten minutes wouldn't be enough for that!

Not to mention, the number of shurikens in his weapon pouch is limited. He would soon run out of shurikens with this high consumption.

With that in mind, this time, instead of dodging and putting a distance, Kyrell used his snake-like nimble body to move amidst the ten limbs attacking him to get close enough to the centipede.

When he was closed enough, he flicked his wrist at a certain direction and from it, a thin yet resilient thread flew out. Inside Kyrell's sleeve, near his shoulders, a tool that enables him to use and control threads are strapped to him.

He had seen the uncle from the branch family using threads before and it was something that interested him. As such, he also used the same tool but of course, it was not a mana tool like the explosive cubes as mana tools are expensive and demand a huge amount of mana.

Even Kyrell in his current state cannot use a mana tool yet. Still, for low-level fights like this, a normal tool can also be quite effective.

A cultivator, unless their Cultivation Art specializes in certain weapons or combat style just like the Star Crushing Pole Art of the Portinov Family will generally learn to use a variety of weapons to become more flexible.

With Zero's help, Kyrell can easily learn how to use weapons!

The thread flew out and it wrapped itself on Kyrell's sword that he was forced to give up earlier that is now lying on the ground. After securing the sword, the thread flew back to Kyrell and he held the sword in his hand.

That delay puts him into a dangerous situation as the centipede's limbs surrounded him but he skillfully lightly threw the sword above him.

With both of his hands free, Kyrell flicked both of his wrists and this time, more threads flew out and they held the ten limbs into their place.

The material of the threads are resilient but the centipede can still break free from it if given enough time. As such, Kyrell didn't waste any time.

He continued charging at the centipede while the threads from his tool rendered its most powerful means of attack temporarily useless.

Puchi!

Using the advanced Mastery of the Soft Bone Sword Technique, Kyrell thrusts his sword at a weak spot of the centipede, causing it to cry out in pain again.

This time, the wounds were deeper compared to the wounds that the shurikens inflicted and more pungent green blood appeared.

While ignoring his disgust, Kyrell was about to attack again when the threads finally snapped and the centipede's limbs once more approached him.

With a frown on his face, Kyrell lightly threw his sword and for the third time, flicked his wrists. More threads flew out and the limbs were rendered immobile once more.

"I can only do this one more time after this" Kyrell commented in displeasure. The amount of threads his weapon tool stored is limited to prevent it from hindering his movement and it was meant to be a hidden weapon.

As such, he is not able to constantly spam the usage of the threads. As for using a Martial Skill... heh... for an early stage Genetic Awakener, they are not something that could be used constantly due to the enormous mana consumption.

Only those with high-quality Cultivation Art can do that. As for the Spirit Serpent Art, it granted the cultivator more mana compared to the common arts that can be bought in the market but it cannot compare to the Cultivation Arts of the Three Great Clans.

Kyrell judged that those three examinees from before, even if they were at the same level as him perhaps had the ability to spam skills but certainly not a peasant like him!

At his current mana capacity, he can only use skills a few times since he also needs to reserve mana to enhance his physical state.

Even a cultivator's seemingly normal move actually involves mana consumption! Kyrell was no exemption.

Still, thanks to his Cultivation Art and natural constitution, Kyrell has more mana compared to the real 'commoners' and he can still use skills a few times.

Knowing that he would only have one more chance to use threads after this battle, he resolved himself to deal as much damage as possible.

"[Soft Bone Sword Technique: Evening Bite!]"

Mana flowed into the blade of Kyrell's sword and it seemingly grew a set of fangs. The advantage of this Sword Technique is that even with weak physical strength, the user can use the momentum that can be gathered from 'having' soft bones to increase the lethality of the sword.

Puchi!

Kyrell successfully stabbed the centipede with his sword for the second time and the damage was even greater this time. He clearly only stabbed the sword once in that attack but two holes appeared on the centipede's weak point.

The holes were identical in size and depth as if a snake bit through it using its sharp fangs.

After just launching a single attack, the threads already snapped but Kyrell used the remaining threads he had to bind the limbs again.

For the second time today, Kyrell used the martial skill included in his Sword Technique, and the centipede became seriously injured.

Using the Constricing Vine once and the Evening Bite twice in a row consumed a huge chunk of Kyrell's mana but he still has some 'juice' left.

He continued to move around with physical abilities enhanced with mana to deal considerable damage to the centipede and when he saw a gap, he made a move to finish the enemy.

Without hesitation, Kyrell seized the opening and mana once more gathered at his sword and his movements gave people an illusion that the sword and even his arm turned into the image of a serpent that launched itself for a bite.

Puchi!

For the third time, Kyrell used Evening Bite to stab the centipede. The multiple injuries along with the severe blood loss finally killed the troublesome enemy.

However, at the same time, Kyrell's mana was spent, and a strong wave of weakness spread to his whole body. But before he can even have the chance to rest, the white space suddenly shatters.

When he could see again, the familiar blue crystal was in front of him and the wave of weakness due to mana consumption vanished.

Everything that happened earlier was just an illusion and in reality, Kyrell's mana was still at 100%

"Kyrell Evander: 30 points"

Those words appeared above the blue crystal, showing the score that Kyrell received and he can't help but smile bitterly.

He got 30 points because he was cheating with an advanced A.I.'s help while the prodigies of the Three Great Clans got perfect scores thanks to their vastly superior Cultivation Art.

They are simply worlds apart!

"Without a high-quality Cultivation Art, a cultivator will not be able to become strong enough!"

That reality was realized by Kyrell. His family's Cultivation Art is definitely better compared to the common widespread arts and he can overpower those cultivators with his own art.

However, the Spirit Serpent Art is far from being able to contend with the Star Crushing Pole Art of the Portinov Family and also the equally powerful arts of the Grimen and Viper Family.

Improve! The Spirit Serpent Art must be improved as soon as possible.

"This Academy... I hope I will get some inspiration here" Kyrell thought while clenching his fist.

With Zero's database, it doesn't seem that hard to improve the Spirit Serpent Art by a tiny bit. However, the first improvement will determine Kyrell's future path with the Spirit Serpent Art. He couldn't be careless with it.
