The meeting didn't last much longer. Once Venus had spoken, there was little left to debate. The nobles accepted his decree with varying levels of reluctance—some eager to see the competition unfold, others wary of what it meant for them and their influence over the house.

She simply stood, smoothing down the folds of her royal blue robe, and walked away. Lucas followed closely, his expression unreadable, though the sharp tension in his shoulders spoke volumes.

Seraphina lingered for a moment, her fingers curling over the fabric of her sleeves. She looked as though she wanted to say something, but in the end, she only nodded slightly before retreating as well.

I stayed seated.
