An Evening of Tension

Miria had woken up at dawn, determined to tackle the household chores before the day's heat became unbearable. She was sweeping the floor energetically when a faint beep sounded from her phone on the table. Wiping her hands, she glanced at the screen.

Diana: Hey Miria! I'm throwing a party at my place tonight. It's been a while since we had fun, so I hope you'll come!

Miria let out a sigh. The idea of a party didn't excite her at all. She wasn't in the mood to socialize and much preferred the calm of her home. Just as she was about to ignore the invitation, another message popped up.

Marlie: Tell me you got Diana's invitation! You're coming, right?

Miria sighed again and quickly typed a response.

Miria: No, I don't think I'll go.

Marlie's reply was instant.

Marlie: What? Why not?

Miria: I'm just not in the mood for a party.

Marlie: Oh no, that excuse won't work on me! You're coming, whether you like it or not! And if you refuse, I'll drag you there myself!

Miria rolled her eyes but couldn't help a small smile. Marlie was as stubborn as ever. Eventually, she gave in.

Miria: Alright, alright. I'll come.

Marlie: Perfect! Get ready, we're going to have fun!

Miria set her phone down and went back to work, though a part of her already regretted agreeing.
