Shadows of the Past

Meanwhile, back at the party, after Miria's sudden departure, Ray no longer felt like staying. He grabbed his jacket and stepped outside.

Before he could leave, a female voice stopped him.

— Ray, you're leaving already?

He turned to see Isabella approaching him, her smile unnaturally relaxed.

— Stay a little longer, the party's just getting started…

Ray's gaze turned icy.

— Everything that happened tonight is your fault, Isabella.

She flinched slightly, her smile fading.

— What?

— People keep talking about us because you never learned to let go. Stay away from me.

Without another word, he walked off, leaving her alone in the dark.

From a distance, Klaus had been watching. As soon as Ray disappeared around the corner, he stepped toward Isabella.

— Why do you do this? he asked softly. Why do you keep holding on to him when he clearly doesn't want you anymore?

Isabella gave him a tired look.

— Klaus…

— I'm here, Isabella. I'm ready to love you, to be the one you need. Why won't you see me?

She turned fully toward him, crossing her arms.

— Are you done?

Klaus swallowed hard.

— Isabella…

— Stop bothering me. I will never love you. Accept it and forget about me.

She spun on her heels and went back inside. Klaus stood frozen, his fists clenching in frustration.

At that moment, Diana stepped outside and spotted him.

— What are you doing out here?

Klaus quickly masked his anger with a casual smile.

— Nothing, just getting some fresh air.

Diana didn't seem to notice anything and grabbed his arm.

— Come on, the party's still going!

He followed her without protest, but inside, silent rage burned within him.
