Other than the overgrown creatures he spotted, the world Rio found himself in looked no different from Earth.
It had a yellow sun, tall large trees which were in the distance, grass, air and wind. The soil was the same as that of Earth's as were the laws of physics, well those he could test, gravity being the easiest one.
"Is it possible that I am still on Earth"
After realizing that he alone had possibly consumed almost all of a creature comparable in size to a horse, Rio also confirmed that his one hit had ended the life of the green bird and now as he moved aiming to get to the top of a hill not too far off, he had two very pressing questions,
"How long have I been asleep, and how do I get back home"
Though he had been on a hunt for blood, Rio could still remember that when he had first arrived here pursuing the direhog, it had been bright and sunny, but now, looking at the sun in the sky, Rio could see that it was rising and the implication for him was that he had slept here an entire night.
"How come I didn't get eaten, surely there are predators around here," Rio said to himself but what he wasn't aware of was that, after devouring the direhog, while he split he had been releasing a bloodthirsty aura, one which kept all beast away from his position and it was only this morning that the aura faded away and birds being the most mobile creatures were first to spot him.
Reaching the top of the hill, Rio looked around, his face scrunching as he was hit with the vision of a hilly terrain covered by grass.
Rio could spot some more densely packed trees but they were far off in the distance.
"System"
"System"
"System screen"
Saying whatever word, he could, Rio tried calling out the blue screen but his efforts were met with nothing and he could only curse at it when he realized he hadn't even been given his rewards.
Collapsing on his butt and falling on his back, with a groan Rio let the warm sun hit for a good amount of time, but when its heat stopped being pleasurable, he stood to his feet and began marching off, axe on his shoulder.
With absolutely no idea how to conjure up a portal or where he could find one, Rio marched towards the far-stretching forest in the distance.
Though there was a bit of regret in Rio about following after the beast into the portal he shrugged it off because even now he could not imagine himself allowing the pesky creature to escape after it had annoyed him and further riled his fighting spirit.
There was also the fact that it was meant to serve as his meal
"Well one good thing is that I'm full" Rio chuckled to himself and as he moved, he couldn't help but be bathed by the feeling of freedom as a cool breeze blew over him.
There was no schedule he had to meet up to, no annoying boss to order him about, no hard gruelling company expectation on his shoulder, now everything was just about him and what he wanted.
The merry smile on Rio's face was a stark contrast to his bloody appearance and luckily, he encountered no one right until he crossed into the forest and just as he hoped found himself a creek.
With no inhibition, Rio stripped and got into the water and it was while he lying in it and letting its fresh touch caress his body that he heard a cute but aggressive growl.
With a raised eyebrow, Rio raised his head from the water and looked to the side his eyes landing on what he at first thought were three wolf cubs but at the end concluded were direhog cubs after noticing the extra fur on their little backs.
"Damn is your specie the only vicious alien creature the universe has to offer" Rio grumbled his head dropping back into the water.
"Shoo shoo, go back to your parents"
Rio had just said these words when his head rapidly rose back out of the water.
"Where are your parents," he asked looking left and right his eyes scanning the trees around.
Gra! Gra!
Rather than answer him, something they couldn't do the cub kept growling at him and soon one got ballsy enough and jumped into the water.
With its small body, it trudged through the water, its feet barely touching the ground, but just as it opened its mouth to bite Rio, his hand burst out of the water and caught its head and then snapping its neck, he threw it's dead body back to its siblings and then rose up from the water, axe in hand.
Like a switch had been flipped, the anger that was in the eyes of the little cubs completely disappeared replaced by terror.
They immediately went silent not even the death of their beloved sibling able to make them be aggressive towards Rio, because in their eyes, the second he rose from the water, he changed from a simple body of living flesh to a bloodthirsty predator, his mere sight making their senses go haywire with cries of danger and death.
After his past several interactions with direhogs, when Rio saw the startled and fearful look in the eyes of the cubs, he quickly got an idea about what was going on and with a shrug ignored them as went to pick up his clothes.
To Rio, his several battles had made him menacing but what he had no idea about was that direhogs were creatures which typically attacked without thinking and with the exception of the first direhog he had killed all the others had been forced to put their brain to use after encountering them, the threat he exuded too heavy for them to be careless
Rio had no idea that at the moment, there was no human on earth who could stand up to the expressed sight of him.
