"Where did Renard run off to?" Lucia wondered as she walked around the stalls filled with food.
"I got him this skewered fish-"
She suddenly saw a giant cross of white flames up on the sky, making her skin turn pale.
"What kind of prank- No, Renard is not the type to pull such pranks!" She thought as she dropped all she had bought.
"Everyone!" She shouted, "Head towards the inner chambers! Guards! Initiate combat mode! Set up a defensive barrier!"
Her voice, as if amplified, spread throughout the whole kingdom. Everyone stared up at the beautiful sight of a cross, yet they all trembled at the thought about what it meant. All the artifacts stationed everywhere suddenly glowed as gigantic spell circles appeared above them. They shot out a dark beam, that seemed to join above the kingdom.
"Your Majesty!" Lucia shouted as the King appeared beside her.
"I shall take care of it!" He said, his face serious. His clothes suddenly transformed into a pure white armor, and his eyes glowed a deep red as he cast a spell. All artifacts flew towards him, surrounding him. He cast out a barrier spell, that was immediately multiplied a thousandfold, covering the entire kingdom with a golden barrier. As he did so, Renard and his friends appeared from an alleyway.
"Renard!"
"Dad!" He called out as he saw his father, acting as the battery of the barrier.
"Good job detecting them and sending the warning." His father said.
"Lucia, take Renard and his friends, head to the inner chambers now! Protect the queen too!" He shouted as guards stood beside him.
"Guard the King!" Lucia shouted as she stomped her feet on the ground, raising the earth that was around her and the children. Without delaying, she controlled the entire platform they were standing on, towards the inner chambers.
"Not bad." Caius said as he observed the kingdom below him. He had dark wings on his back, allowing him to float above the kingdom, like an angel of doom.
"Their little one seems impressive. To warn without delay, are we sure that he's a child?" Oliver asked as he appeared beside Caius, standing on what appeared to be his sword.
"Let us first test out their barrier, shall we?" Caius said as he looked at the mages who were preparing their large scale attack.
"Worry not, the Glaslot kingdom shall not disappoint." Oliver said.
"We might have to move away from here,"

Inside, everyone who was outside, stared up at the sky.
"W- what is that!" One guard shouted as a gigantic ball of light formed above the barrier. The clouds had gotten darker, and it appeared as if it was already night.
"I- Is that the sun?"
"R-Run!" The king shouted.
"Anyone who is not in the inner chambers yet, run!! All guards near me, come close and brace yourselves! Hurry!" He shouted, as he sensed the massive amount of power that was behind that single attack.
Inside the royal chambers, everyone was tensed up, as all they could do was pray.
"Renard... W- what is that light?" Sylvia asked as she pointed outside. As Renard looked up, his face, the queen's and Lucia's face all turned pale.
"This is a very dense attack! Dad cannot block it with a barrier that huge!" Renard thought.
"Lucia! Mother! Protect the inner chambers!!" He shouted as he ran towards the stairs.
"Renard!" his mother called out, but he was long gone. He climbed to the highest part, searching for his father.
"This... Father will have to abandon the walls and everything else and focus solely on the central area.. But... Guards will die, people will... Die..." He thought as his legs started shaking. Ignoring his fears, he kept on running as he was well aware that his hesitation would lead to worse effects.
"I cannot block all of this! The barrier will break!!" The King thought as he focused even more of his power.
"Dad!"He heard as Renard landed in front of him,
"Renard! What are you doing here!!"
"Reduce your barrier size! Cover the central region only! People will die, but if we leave it like this, more people will die!!!" he shouted.
"Please reduce it and trust in me!"
"Alright!" He shouted as he grit his teeth.
"Guards! The ones in charge of artifacts! As soon as the barrier is reduced, redirect all the artifacts that are going to be free on me! Do not falter nor hesitate! Now!" Renard shouted as the barrier size reduced. Everything needed to be done in a split second, as the massive ball of energy collided with the barrier. Renard's eyes glowed red and blood flowed out of his mouth and nostrils as he cast his own skill. Suddenly, the barrier's shape changed as the two collided, into a hemispherical shape then suddenly, into a sword like shape, covering the central region only, and the rest, was blinding white light as the rest of the kingdom was utterly erased off the face of the earth.
"Knights! Cast healing magic on yourselves now! Renard! Come close to me! The Barrier will not be able to hold back the incoming shockwave!!" The King shouted as he ran towards his son, shielding him as a large shockwave burst all through the kingdom, shattering the barrier.
Renard struggled to open his eyes, and his ears were ringing. He could barely make sense of everything, as all he heard were shouts and screams.
"...nard! Renard!!"
He looked up and saw his father, whose head was slightly bleeding.
"Heal the king!"
"Save me! My leg!"
"Oh Light Sovereigns!"
There was pure confusion everywhere, so none of them apart from Renard and his father, felt the ground shake, as the army approached them and as a barrage of magic attacks started attacking the central area.
"Guards! Move back! Fall back!" The King shouted as he lifted his son and carried him as he ran towards the chambers.
As Renard tried to make sense of his surroundings, he saw the knights at the furthest end freeze, as if time had been stopped for them, and their heads slid off their bodies. within the dust, he saw a shining long curved blade, covered by blood.
"And now," Caius said as he wiped the blood off his blade.
"Let the slaughter begin."
