Sophie Lawrence tightly clenched her hands and asked in a low, murmuring voice.
"Mom, why...?"
"Because I won't allow someone who can't have children to be my son Henry Mitchell's wife."
"It's their own business if Henry Mitchell's aunts are willing not to have children, but Henry Mitchell can't be without his own children."
"But Henry Mitchell said he wouldn't agree to a divorce."
Henry Mitchell's mother gave a cold laugh, "He has already agreed."
...
Downstairs.
When Henry Mitchell came out from the kitchen after cleaning up, only his father was left in the living room.
Henry Mitchell frowned slightly. After looking around the living room, he asked, "Where is Sophie Lawrence?"
Henry Mitchell's father lifted his eyes from the book and raised his chin towards the study on the second floor, saying, "She has been in there for almost half an hour."
Almost without hesitation, Henry Mitchell immediately ran upstairs.
With a "bang", Henry Mitchell pushed the study door open violently.
Henry Mitchell's mother didn't have time to put away the cold look on her face. She looked at Henry Mitchell with a somewhat dazed expression, "What are you coming up here for?"
Henry Mitchell walked straight to Sophie Lawrence and said softly, "My aunt was right."
That day, after Henry Mitchell's aunt had a talk with his mother, she sent him a message, warning him that his mother wouldn't give up so easily.
Looking at Sophie Lawrence's pale face, Henry Mitchell knew how hurtful his mother's words had been before he came up.
Henry Mitchell pulled Sophie Lawrence behind him and looked straight at his mother, "I won't get divorced, nor will I marry Chloe Morgan."
After that, he directly led Sophie Lawrence downstairs.
"Dad, we're going back."
Henry Mitchell's father put down the book and walked closer to them, saying, "Go back and have an early rest. Don't take your mother's words to heart."
Henry Mitchell nodded, turned around, and led Sophie Lawrence to change shoes and go out.
On the way back, Sophie Lawrence remained silent all the time. She just stared blankly out of the window, her eyes somewhat vacant, as if she was deep in thought.
Henry Mitchell looked at her sideways and asked with concern, "What did Mom say?"
Sophie Lawrence just remained silent and didn't respond.
After a while, she suddenly turned her head to look at Henry Mitchell, with a hint of doubt and inquiry in her eyes, and asked, "You had already agreed to the divorce before. Why did you change your mind later?"
Henry Mitchell's hand holding the steering wheel tightened slightly, but immediately regained calmness. He answered steadily, "Saying yes to the divorce to Mom was just to placate her."
Sophie Lawrence's eyes became profound, making it hard to tell whether she believed it or not.
Not long after, she turned her head to look out of the window again. The scenery outside the window flashed by quickly in her eyes, just like her somewhat chaotic thoughts at the moment.
"Have you asked for leave for tomorrow?"
"Yes."
When they got home, to Henry Mitchell's surprise, Sophie Lawrence entered the bathroom one step ahead of him.
Henry Mitchell couldn't help frowning. His heart was full of doubts, but in the end, he didn't ask anything.
Twenty minutes passed, and Sophie Lawrence began to regret that she had rushed into the bathroom directly.
Only then did she realize that she hadn't taken any clothes to change into.
Moreover, she didn't know when Henry Mitchell had removed the bath towel inside...
"Knock, knock, knock."
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Through the frosted glass, a blurry figure could be seen.
"Don't fall asleep in there."
Sophie Lawrence nervously clenched her hands and stammered, "I haven't got my clothes..."
Henry Mitchell raised his eyes and saw the pink pajamas on the sofa at the end of the bed.
The figure at the door disappeared. After a while, there was another knock on the door.
"Open the door."
Sophie Lawrence walked forward carefully and opened the door a little. Without any precaution, she stretched out her hand.
Henry Mitchell looked at the wrist in front of him, which was a little steamy and rosy - white, and his eyes suddenly darkened, as if some emotion was surging deep in his eyes.
He didn't pass the clothes to Sophie Lawrence. Instead, he threw the clothes behind him, and the clothes landed lightly back on the bed.
Then, he raised his hand and tightly grasped the wrist at the door.
Sophie Lawrence was stunned. Before she could figure out what was going on, Henry Mitchell had pushed the door open and walked in.
Sophie Lawrence subconsciously wanted to cover herself, but in this small space, she suddenly felt that whatever she did was in vain, and her face instantly turned bright red.
"You..."
Henry Mitchell didn't give Sophie Lawrence a chance to speak. He lowered his head and kissed her deeply.
