JASON:LOST BUT FOUND

---

Chapter Fourteen

"You showed up, Seline," Jason's voice cut through the noise, sharp and unmistakable, despite the thrum of music and the murmur of voices around her.

Seline turned quickly, her pulse skipping at the sight of him. He was leaning casually against the wall, half-hidden in the dim lighting of the club's corner. His nose mask was still in place, obscuring the lower half of his face. Only his eyes, cold and penetrating, were visible, watching her with that same unyielding intensity she had come to expect.

For a moment, her thoughts flashed back to their last session—the way he had turned back from the door , almost bored, as he'd said, "If you want to see my face, meet me there." She'd dismissed it then, chalking it up to his usual evasiveness. But now, standing in the chaos of the club, she wasn't so sure.

"Of course, I showed up," she said, forcing herself to sound composed. She took a step closer, the flickering neon lights casting shifting shadows over his figure. "You said you wanted to talk."she said the first thing that came to her mind

Jason tilted his head slightly, his lips curving beneath the mask. "Did I?" he said, his tone as cool as ever, laced with just enough amusement to unsettle her.

Before she could respond, he pushed off the wall and stepped toward her. His movements were slow, deliberate. The music seemed to swell around them, drowning out everything else, but Seline didn't move.

Jason reached out, brushing past her arm to grip her wrist. His hand was warm, firm, yet strangely gentle. "Come with me," he said, his voice low but commanding.

They weaved through the crowded club, the bass vibrating through the floor beneath Seline's feet. The dim lighting flashed intermittently, casting their surroundings in hues of blue and red. Jason didn't look back, but his grip on her wrist never faltered, guiding her through the throng of people until they reached a secluded staircase near the back.

"Where are we going?" Seline asked, her voice raised slightly to be heard over the pounding music.

"You'll see," Jason said simply, his tone unreadable.

The staircase was dimly lit, the muffled echoes of the club fading as they climbed higher. When they reached the rooftop, the stark contrast from the chaos below made Seline's breath catch. The city stretched before them, vibrant and alive, the lights of the skyline twinkling like distant stars.

Jason finally released her wrist and walked to the edge of the rooftop. His posture was relaxed, but there was an edge to his movements—like a taut wire ready to snap.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. Seline glanced back at the door they'd come through, the faint hum of the club still audible below. She turned back to him. "Your family is looking for you," she said finally, breaking the silence.

Jason scoffed softly, the sound almost lost in the breeze. "They usually are."

Seline hesitated, studying him. "Marie told me she's worried about you," she lied, her voice careful.

Jason turned to face her, his expression unreadable. "Marie's worried, is she?" he said, his voice laced with bitter amusement. "That's rich."

Seline frowned. She'd met Marie before, and while she hadn't seemed particularly concerned, her words earlier had been enough to plant a seed of doubt.

"She seemed sincere," Seline added cautiously. she hoped to make him feel better

Jason's eyes narrowed slightly, his tone hardening. "Marie doesn't do sincere."

Seline shifted, unsure of how to respond. Jason turned away again, his gaze fixed on the city below.

"You said you wanted to talk," Seline pressed after a moment, her voice firmer now.

Jason's shoulders tensed briefly before he let out a soft laugh. "You're always so sure of what I said," he said, turning back to her. She had a feeling he was referring to the embarrassing deal they had, which he clearly had the upper hand

Seline straightened, meeting his gaze. "I remember exactly what you said," she countered. "You told me to come here if I wanted to see your face."

Jason's lips twitched beneath his mask. "And yet you assumed it was because I wanted to talk," he said, taking a step closer to her.

She refused to back down, her voice steady. "I didn't assume anything. You're the one who asked me to come here."

Jason studied her for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then, slowly, he reached up, his fingers brushing the edge of his nose mask.

"You've been waiting for this," he said quietly, his voice softer now, almost vulnerable.

Seline's breath caught.

"Do you still want to see?"

Her heart pounded in her chest as she nodded. "Yes." This was the first step, what she initially wanted, why was she feeling this way

Jason took another step closer, his presence overwhelming. His fingers paused on the mask. "Once you see my face Seline, no going back ," he murmured, his voice low, teasing, yet sharp enough to send a shiver down her spine.
