Chapter twenty one

**********

Seline's chest rose and fell rapidly as she slammed the door shut behind her, locking it in place. Her hands trembled as she braced herself against the door, her mind racing with a million possibilities—and none of them good. The room she had fled from was suffocating, and the man she'd escaped was even worse.

Pulling Lucas's phone from her pocket, she wasted no time dialing Aaliyah's number. Her fingers were shaking, but sheer determination drove her. The phone rang once, twice, and then—

"Seline?" Aaliyah's familiar voice burst through the line, sounding both relieved and panicked. "Oh my God, where are you? What's happening?"

Seline's voice came out in a rushed whisper. "Jason kidnapped me. I don't have much time—"

Before she could finish, the phone was yanked from her hand. Her heart stopped as she looked up to see Jason towering over her, his face dark and menacing in the dim light. The phone trembled in his grasp before he crushed it against the wall, the sharp sound of breaking plastic and glass cutting through the silence.

Her breath hitched as Jason stepped closer. The weight of his presence was suffocating, his eyes fixed on hers with an intensity that made her knees weak.

"Why," he asked in a low, dangerous voice, "did you leave the room?"

Seline swallowed hard, pressing herself back against the wall. She wanted to shrink under his gaze, but her defiance wouldn't allow it. "Because I won't let you win," she said, her voice steadier than she expected.

His jaw tightened, and for a long moment, he simply stared at her. The tension was unbearable, her pulse pounding in her ears. Then, something in his expression shifted. His shoulders sagged slightly, and the fury in his eyes dimmed, replaced by a flicker of something she couldn't quite place—hurt, maybe even regret.

"That was a smart move," he muttered, almost as if he were talking to himself. "Outwitting Lucas."

His sudden change in demeanor left her frozen in place. The man before her didn't seem like the cold, calculating kidnapper she'd been dealing with. He looked... vulnerable.

"Jason," she said softly, her voice no more than a whisper. "Are you okay?"

His head snapped up, his eyes narrowing. "Don't," he snapped bitterly. "Don't pretend to care."

"I'm not pretending," Seline said, stepping forward despite the warning in his tone. "I'm still your therapist, Jason. Whatever's going on with you—whatever you're feeling—you don't have to deal with it alone. Let me help you."

Jason froze, her words cutting through the air like a blade. His body went rigid, and for a moment, she thought he might walk away. Instead, he turned to her, closing the distance between them in an instant.

His hands gripped her shoulders, pressing her back against the wall. His dark eyes bore into hers, raw and unguarded. "You want to help me?" he growled, his voice rough and ragged.

"Yes," she whispered, her breath catching.

For a moment, the only sound was the rapid thudding of her heartbeat. The tension between them was unbearable, thick and electric. And then, without warning, Jason's lips crashed against hers.

The kiss was wild and unrelenting, his desperation pouring out in every movement. Seline gasped against his mouth, her hands instinctively coming up to push him away, but she didn't. Her body betrayed her, responding to the fire in his touch. Instead, her fingers gripped his shirt, pulling him closer.

Jason growled low in his throat, his hands moving from her shoulders to her waist, pulling her tightly against him. Her body molded to his, their breaths mingling as the kiss deepened. His lips were hot and insistent, leaving her dizzy and breathless.

When his mouth left hers, it didn't stop. He pressed hot, lingering kisses along her jaw, down her neck, and to the hollow of her throat. Seline tilted her head, her breath hitching as his stubble scraped against her sensitive skin.

"Jason," she murmured, her voice trembling.

He didn't respond. His hands gripped her hips firmly but not harshly, and with a quick motion, he lifted her off the ground. She let out a soft gasp, her legs instinctively wrapping around his waist as he carried her back toward the room.

Inside, Jason laid her down on the bed with surprising gentleness, his weight pressing down on her as his lips found hers again. The fire in his movements consumed her, each kiss more urgent than the last.

His hands roamed her sides, his fingers leaving trails of fire as they slid beneath her shirt, tracing the curve of her waist. Seline arched beneath him, her breaths coming in shallow gasps as his lips trailed lower, brushing the sensitive skin of her collarbone.

"Jason," she whispered again, her hands tangling in his hair.

A low, rumbling growl escaped his throat, sending a thrill through her. His lips continued their descent, teasing and tormenting her with a deliberate slowness that left her breathless. Her hands clutched at his shoulders, pulling him closer, every nerve in her body alight with sensation.

But just as the tension reached its breaking point, Jason froze. His head dropped against her shoulder, his breaths coming in uneven bursts.

"Jason?" she whispered, her voice soft and uncertain.

There was no response. After a long, tense moment, she heard it—the soft, rhythmic sound of his snores.

Seline blinked, her chest still heaving as she processed what had just happened. Slowly, realization dawned, and her cheeks flushed with a mix of frustration and humiliation. He had fallen asleep.

"Unbelievable," she muttered, shoving him off her with more force than necessary. Jason rolled onto his side, dead to the world, leaving her sitting on the edge of the bed, her face burning.

But as the embarrassment faded, another thought took its place: this was her chance.

Her eyes landed on Jason's phone lying on the bedside table. Grabbing it, she slipped out of the room and into the hallway. The cool night air greeted her as she stepped outside, the stars above glittering like tiny beacons of hope.

For a moment, she paused, tilting her face to the sky. "Give me a sign," she whispered, her voice trembling," should I stay...or should I run"

The first rain drop landed on her cheek , followed by another, until the heavens opened in a steady downpour.

Seline closed her eyes, letting the rain wash away over her. It wasn't the sign she expected, but it was enough.

"I'm not giving up" she whispered her voice steady as the storm raged around, perhaps this was her chance to help him and even if she left he might find her again plus she needed to understand what exactly was going on and why Adams had attacked them

With that, she returned into the building, dialing Aaliyah's number again....
