Chapter 223

"It's so cold... I can feel the temperature now. I can even smell things, and my body feels warm... I'm really alive again," said Chi Yu in disbelief.

"Seems so," Xia Zhi replied calmly.

The soft light from the four-sided lamp illuminated the room as Xia Zhi walked to his wardrobe and pulled out a clean set of pajamas. He handed them to the stunned Chi Yu, who was still sitting on his bed, dazed.

"Though I can't see, you'll need to head out later. Just wear this for now," Xia Zhi said.

"Thank you, boss!" Chi Yu replied, snapping out of her stupor.

Xia Zhi turned his back to her, giving her privacy to change clothes.

The faint rustling of fabric echoed in the room. When she finished, Chi Yu was sitting on the bed in his oversized pajamas, her hair cascading down her shoulders. The combination of her posture and demeanor exuded a subtle charm.

As she ran her hand over the clothes, her cheeks flushed—most likely due to the unfamiliar sensation of not wearing undergarments.

Xia Zhi, now seated at his desk, turned back to her. "Do you feel anything wrong with your body?"

Chi Yu shook her head. "No, I don't think so."

"How about your powers?"

"I can still use them."

"You had a Vision when you were alive, didn't you?"

"Yes."

"What element?"

"Pyro."

"Same as Hu Tao's."

"Most of the past directors of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor have had Pyro Visions."

"But you don't have it anymore, right?"

"No. When I died, it became an empty shell."

"That's a shame."

"It doesn't matter. To live again is already the greatest blessing I could ask for."

Chi Yu looked at Xia Zhi with heartfelt gratitude. "Thank you so much, boss! That fruit you gave me must've been incredibly precious—"

Xia Zhi waved dismissively. "That fruit is only effective for spirits. It wouldn't have lasted long if left unused. I couldn't eat it anyway, so giving it to you was the best choice."

"Still, thank you so much, boss!"

"If you really want to thank me, just keep working hard for me from now on."

"Of course!"

"Alright then, it's getting late. You should head back to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor to get accustomed to your body."

"Can I tell others about my resurrection?"

"Hmm?"

"Like, how I came back to life?"

"It's better if you don't tell anyone."

"But what if Hu Tao asks?"

Xia Zhi paused in thought. "Just come up with an excuse yourself."

"Got it…" Chi Yu reluctantly nodded.

"Alright, off you go."

Chi Yu slid off the bed, her bare feet pale and delicate.

"Boss, can I borrow a pair of your shoes?"

"Sure. I have an extra pair I haven't worn yet."

"They're a bit big… I'll return them tomorrow."

"Okay."

"Goodnight, boss."

"Goodnight."

Before leaving, Chi Yu thoughtfully folded the blanket she had used and slipped out of the room in his clothes and shoes, quietly heading back to the funeral parlor.

Once she left, Xia Zhi closed the door and lit a stick of incense. It was time to open some treasure chests.

Sitting at his desk, he pulled out a diamond chest and a platinum chest—both graciously "sponsored" by Osial and Beisht.

He decided to start with the bigger prize.

Xia Zhi opened the diamond chest, and a small, round mirror materialized before him.

[Phantom Mirror]

- Quality: Diamond

- Type: Auxiliary Tool

- Traits: Reality Shattering, Otherworld, Foresight

- Effects: Can pierce through illusions, enter the Mirror World, and foresee future events.

- Hidden Effect: +100% effectiveness to stealth and illusionary skills.

This was Xia Zhi's third diamond-tier item, and the first one focused on foresight.

Previously, Xia Zhi had learned the art of divination from Moon Carver, but his readings were always vague and lacked detail. The [Phantom Mirror], however, promised a far superior level of precision.

Its ability to pierce illusions was straightforward, but entering the "Mirror World" seemed less clear. As for the hidden effect, it significantly boosted the effectiveness of his [Stealth Mode] and [Moon in the water].

After some thought, Xia Zhi decided the mirror was worth keeping and didn't reset its acquisition with [Hourglass of Time].

Instead of opening the platinum chest right away, he tested the mirror's [Foresight] ability.

"What item will I get if I open this platinum chest now?"

The mirror's surface rippled before displaying a single word: Unknown.

Xia Zhi raised an eyebrow and tried again.

"If I use [Intertwined Fate] now, who will I summon?"

The word Unknown appeared once more.

He changed tactics.

"When will I use [Intertwined Fate]?"

This time, the mirror showed an image: Xia Zhi lying on his bed, seemingly asleep.

I'll use it… in a dream? Why? If I use it now, wouldn't that change the future? This means the mirror's predictions aren't set in stone.

Curious, Xia Zhi asked another question. "What will the weather be like tomorrow?"

The mirror displayed the answer: Sunny.

To confirm, Xia Zhi took out some Mora and performed a traditional divination for the next day's weather.

The result matched the mirror's prediction: sunny.

"What is Chi Yu doing right now?"

The mirror showed a vivid image of a cozy red-themed bedroom. Hu Tao and Chi Yu were sitting together, chatting animatedly about something.

"What about Morax?"

The mirror's image turned hazy, showing Zhongli seated at a desk, reading a book.

Xia Zhi pondered and performed one last test.

"What is Moon Carver doing right now?"

This time, the mirror's image became even blurrier.

As expected, those adept in divination had a natural resistance to such predictive tools.

Satisfied with his understanding of the mirror's [Foresight], Xia Zhi put it aside.

Instead of opening the platinum chest, he decided to save it for later. Since the mirror didn't suggest opening it now, he trusted its insight.

He turned his attention to testing the mirror's ability to enter the "Mirror World."

Activating the [Otherworld] trait, Xia Zhi vanished from his room and reappeared in an identical space.

The new room mirrored every detail of his own—down to the furniture and folded blanket on the bed. The only difference was that everything was flipped, as if viewed in a reflection, and no living beings existed within this mirrored reality.

Exploring further, Xia Zhi found Shenhe's room, as well as the rooms belonging to Zhu Zi and Diona. All were eerily empty.

"So, this 'Otherworld' is an alternate dimension. This might be the mirror's true strength."
