HELEN'S LAUGH

"Number 2038 Golden Willow Road." Eva answered, relaxing back on her seat.

Brandon closed the windows. He noticed how she constantly rubbed her palms together, as if fighting against the cold.

"Why not ask me to close them?" He asked, with a hint of concern in his voice.

Eva scratched the back of her right hand nervously, before responding, "Im sorry! I… I didn't want to sound too…" She stammered, thinking of the right words to express herself.

"Don't worry."Brandon interrupted. "Please be free with me, okay?" He tried to make her feel less tensed around him.

Eva smiled. Appreciating how he didn't overreact about it and, tried to make feel relaxed.

While Brandon, warmed up as he thought of what would happen on the day, when she will find out he was the one she mistook for an escort.

The ride to her street was extremely quiet because, Eva had fallen asleep. When he got to her street, he parked the car and turned to her. She was so peaceful and admiring. Her tempting lips, full brows, her soft white skin. The more he stared at her, the more the scene of the night they shared played in his head. The way he touched her and her moans.

The temption was unbearable. He stretched his hand brush aside the strands of hair that fell over her face. And while trying to tuck it behind her ear, Eva opened her eyes.

She blinked continuously as if, trying to get a better vision, then glanced at Brandon's hand, which hovered awkwardly near her. And he knew the moment to speak was then.

"I'm sorry." Brandon apologized. "Your hair covered your face." He explained. Not wanting to make it more complicated, he changed the topic, "We are in your street. Where is your house so I can drive in?" He asked.

Eva's eyes opened widely and she glanced out the window, then rubbed her eyes a little before turning back to Brandon. "Im sorry for sleeping off like that." She sounded embarrassed. Suddenly self-aware.

"It's fine." He started. "You weren't uncomfortable anymore." He joked and gained a smile from Eva.

"Please, what is your name?" She summoned courage to ask.

"Brandon." He answered and Eva raised her right brow at him.

"I don't know but, it does sound familiar." She opened the door and got out, taking her bag next, she looked back up at Brandon. "I am Eva. It was nice meeting you." She said before shutting the door.

"Im glad to have met you too." he muttered to himself, and smiled.

Eva got in and stood by the window from her room, making sure Brandon wasn't in the street anymore. She feared he might have secretly followed her. The moment his car was out of sight, she let out a heavy sigh.

"What's wrong with you?" Helen broke the silence, startling Eva.

"Jeezzz… My skin almost got out of my body." Eva cried out as she moved away from the window. "How long have you been there?" She asked after scanning Helen.

Helen had a towel wrapped around her chest while on her legs, she wore a pair of black socks. Though, one would consider it weird but, it was a habit and her roommates already accepted it.

Helen took a step forward, away from the door that led to their toilet. "You didn't answer me. You looked really scared. Where you been chased?"

Eva shook her head, did a quick run towards the bed and collapsed on it.

"Chill. I wasn't chased. I was startled by you, not scared." But as Eva was playing around, it wasn't funny for Helen or convinced. She had her serious face on. "Okay, okay. A young msn I met at the shop today. We were supposed to eat out but, after saving some kittens, I slept off in his car after telling our street address."

"Shift to the other side and close your eyes, I want to dress up." Helen mentioned.

"You'd be better off a mother because, you can't even accept a joke." Eva teased. She was a bit hurt that her short story didn't impress anymore.

Eva rolled to the right sidr of the bed, while Helen sat down on the space, on the bed. The room was quiet as Eva watched Helen apply her cream, her hands, her face and so on.

"What happened last night and how did I manage to end up with a man?" The question was just so sudden.

"We asked you to get laid and, you did." Helen laughed. "You don't remember anything?" she asked in a mockery too.

"Yeah, I cant remember and I don't want to. I even had to pay him off because, it looked as though I used him."

Helen got up from the bed and moved over to the half opened wardrope with clothes packed inside.

"Shut up girl, how can you even say you paid him for the fun you two had? I cant believe you. You don't have enough and you felt so generous to drop money. How much did you pay your male worker?" Helen asked and used both hands to cover her face.

In a tiny tone, obviously formed, Eva replied. "$30!" And Helen burst into laughter.

"And he took the money?" Helen wouldn't stop laughing. Even the gown she picked to wear, fell off her hand to the floor and Helen, didn't seem bothered.

"he was still fast asleep. I left the money on the pillow." Eva answered dryly.

Helen paused her laughter, her lower jaw dropped and her eyes widened. Putting a hand over her mouth, she laughed louder than the first.

"It seem like a lot to me, you know?" Eva stated but it only made Helen laugh the more.

After a while, Eva had dozed off and Helen was now done dressing up. She picked up her handba

g and tapped Eva's shoulder, "wake up, im about leaving. Lock the doors"
