I had carefully recorded the telephone conversation from the previous evening. Additionally, I possessed video evidence of Elion striking me at our residence. All the proof pointed to one conclusion: Elion had deliberately attempted to end my life.

It didn't take long for Elion's confidence to crumble, and he began pleading for my mercy.

"Vernia, I made a terrible mistake. I must have been out of my mind. Look, you're okay now, aren't you? Can't we just put this behind us? I won't hold any resentment for what you did to me."

I was indeed okay now because I had uncovered his schemes and the traps he had set for me.

Had I remained unaware, I would have met the same fate as in my previous existence, becoming a restless spirit filled with vengeance.

However, circumstances had changed this time around. Elion had already tied the knot with Vesper, securing his position as a wealthy family's son-in-law.

"Elion, I will never pardon you. You can spend your days rotting in jail."
