Chapter 7

Victor's fingers quivered as he grasped the shell and pebble, burdened by the weight of recollections. He longed to obliterate the agonizing images that tormented him, yet found himself unable to do so. These objects were the final mementos of Elysia, her ultimate gift to him. He repeatedly listened to the message in the shell, each replay a fresh wound to his soul.

"Victor, I wish for you and Seraphina to remain together always! You and I shall never cross paths again in this lifetime!"

His breath hitched, and he struggled to continue, his vision blurred by tears. The shell's image wavered, transporting him back to the coast. For the first time, he comprehended why I had tugged at his sleeve, imploring: "What if I desire your presence?"

"I was mistaken, Elysia, I was wrong!" he murmured desperately into the void.

"Return, and you may chastise or berate me as you please! Just come back, I beg you..."
