Heart

An amused expression graced Yakub's face, its head turning to see and capture every individual reaction to its appearance. It spoke as if it was impressed.

"I didn't expect Humans to be so quick to kill each other. All the other times it took some … encouraging, but this, this was refreshing.

Usually there is talk about banding together, but not, it seems like death is what you wanted."

After hearing this Shem paused, his mind racing. 'Why did the military not fight back against the demon?' He tilted his head back towards their pursuers, all of them had stood frozen, eyes locked with hatred burning towards the Rakshasa.

Colonel Esker (3 Hours Prior to the Shared Dream)

Esker slammed her hand down on her desk, she was currently in her command space on the west side of the tent. Having received a call from her brigadier general about the nature of the crisis, she was in a foul mood.

"What is this!?", she exclaimed before sighing and leaning back in her chair. Currently, she sported the standard military camo with an insignia of her rank on her chest. Her black hair tied neatly in a ponytail and her lips pursed into a tight line.

She stared at the entrance to the command space, zoned out and deep in contemplation. After a while she sighed once again before reaching towards her leg and pulling out a walkie-talkie. The radio frequency was already set to 430 MHz, pulling the device up to her ear she turned it on, having turned it off from her phone call.

"Eshet?" The person in question being Hutch Eshet, the lieutenant colonel in charge of organising the shelter along with the colonel.

Only static came back until a definitive "Yeah, what's up Colonel?" was transmitted.

A scowl graced Esker's face after hearing the casual response, of everything she hated the most it was a lack of respect for superiors.

The scowl was quickly replaced with a smile of satisfaction as she spoke coldly, "Apparently the deaths were caused by a demon. Take that as you will but I have been told to instruct our soldiers to not fight the demon as it 'does not end well.'"

"Good luck on your task."

Without waiting for a response Esker muted her end of the walkie talkie while lowering the volume so she could still hear Hutch sputtering in dejection. A sigh could be heard from the other end before the line went silent, only static replaced the voice.

Pull your heart out of your chest. Without it the human would not function, it is the most important organ. It must be kept sterilized and functional. The right atrium receives blood and delivers it to the right ventricle, the right ventricle pumps the blood to the lungs for oxygen. The left atrium receives oxygen rich blood, then sends it to the left ventricle which distributes it around the body. Any of these segments of the heart are targets for damage, any of the veins or arteries surrounding it will induce death. The valves open and close, letting in blood to the heart and produces a heart beat. When the sound is lost, they are dead.
